It's from the turn of last century. that is a good catch. I often notice these details after I take a lot of shots. Good catch, I bet you're right given the dates. Despite my anthropology degree, I never considered the dump and I bet if you had a metal detector you'd find a few things. Hmmm.

I find stuff I missed in person on my images. There's a lot to take in when you're there.
It struck me odd it was still sitting there
You don't need anything fancy to find trash dumps.
Winter or early spring is best after the overgrowth has died out. Look for obvious signs of earth moving or depressed areas of ground.
Look for old roads leading towards areas in the perimeter. Many times the dumps aren't far, from a couple dozen feet to a mile. Most likely isolated from used areas in use at that time.
First thing you see is usually a bottle sticking out of the ground; going after a heavy rain can be helpful. In the desert rain can surface bottles buried in the sand for decades.
Google Earth can be used to get a better overview for potential areas to look.
You never know what you'll find in those dumps. I've never left one disappointed.
Here's a bottle I found in an old long ago torn down whore house's dump from the 1940's.
