Findagrave is a wonderful resource, but it's not always accurate.

To date, I have spent a lot of time in Cypress Hills Cemetery and have never been able to find the graves of either of the Collyer Brothers (died 1947).

In the past and from various sources, the consensus was that Homer was in the Memorial Abbey and Langley was in an unmarked grave in the Collyer Family plot.

Getting access to the abbey is a good trick which I have never pulled off. I also have never been able to find the Collyer Family's plot.

Findagrave now has this picture of this headstone for the wrong Langley W Collyer who died 14 years before.

You can edit an entry if you become a member; I have created and edited some myself.
It's a volunteer effort and mistakes happen.
The grave maybe there but the marker missing; asswipes do sometimes steal them.
Horde them even
To verify you need to access the cemetery records.
Or email the creator of that entry, it's a nice community.
I even got a thoughtful reply from Curtis LeMay's granddaughter when I posted on his find a grave memorial. Pretty cool.
Dead and living history.

It was an old cemetery in a very small rural town. Most of the graves were from the 1800s-1920s.

All overgrown with moss. Just phone pictures unfortunately, but it was raining and the lens got wet and added a cool effect.

This looks like kind of a DIY job, but there's no getting around the fact that this is meant to be a coffin...

My Dad wanted to make his own coffin, and he did, sort of. He wanted to be buried on his property but the local mortuary regulations would not allow it so he opted for cremation instead. His ashes are kept in a cedar box that he made. It's sad, of course, but also kind of cool that he got his wish after all.

It's important to get your last wish.

This is probably the most interesting grave I've come across. Sidney Saunders was a businessman in the late 1800s. He seemed to have the Midas touch... in reverse. Everything he touched seemed to turn to poop. When he got married, his family didn't like his new wife, and intimated that they were living together without the benefit of the clergy. Nowadays that would be a yawn at best, but in those days this was quite a serious accusation and they couldn't produce their marriage license so the scandal mill went at full tilt.

On top of that, their only son died. And then Sid's business, already in danger of failure, burned down in a spectacular fire. Many people intimated that Sid had started the fire for the insurance money. Legend has it that Sid killed himself because he was afraid that others who had been hurt by the fire were going to lynch him.

Sid's wife Annie knew that his family wanted his money, and they weren't going to let her have it if she didn't produce that marriage license. Annie, however, got the last laugh as she used what remained of his fortune to construct this monument to him and her son.

The statue on the monument represents Sidney, holding his marriage license in hand and staring sternly toward the riverfront where the wealthy families that condemned him lived. Annie and their son are also there, the son's grave is marked, Annie's is not.

McClain's Angel

Unlike my previous post, I don't have any idea about the history of this angel, or how she lost her arm.

2.

Confederate memorial - I'm not sure how many soldiers lie interred in the mound beneath this statue.

This was from a community cemetery on one of the Gulf Islands. It is one of the oldest stones on the site, and one of the few to not be dated.

The first pics here are of a slaver tomb and family plot. Once led by the richest man in the colonial USA who was famous for throwing slaves alive into the shark filled waters. The family has since altered their last name to hide their past and buried ancestors with weird grave inscriptions in an attempt to save them from their deeds:

Abandoned slaver tomb.

A series of famous and not famous "Vampire Craze" graves of both the victims and their participating families. These people all died of tuberculosis and later had their bodies exhumed, burned, staked, or destroyed by their own family. There was a suspicion of them all being vampires that visited their relatives to kill them in the night and make them follow them to the grave. In some cases the body's ashes were drank as a potion or raw organs were eaten. Quite the morbid and superstitious past.

Mercy Brown Grave

Abigail Staples vampire craze grave

One of these is very famous and the rest are mostly forgotten and rarely visited.
