| | | Learning how to shoot and scan film has been quite a learning process, but I think I'm getting there. Scanning and Post Process work on the film has especially been a learning curve, but I'm happy with how my scans are turning out now. I've got a huge amount of negatives to scan from quite a few other places, hopefully I'll get more stuff up soon. A few shots from the best school around. These were taken with a Diana Camera, Fujifilm 400 ISO. 1. Untitled by Alex, on Flickr 2. Untitled by Alex, on Flickr 3. Untitled by Alex, on Flickr 4. Untitled by Alex, on Flickr 5. These shots are from the first roll I got out of it where I was mostly happy with what I got (I think the third roll of film I put through it total). I goofed on a few things, mostly distance, and what will be in frame while looking through the rangefinder, I'm happy with my exposure times though. 6. Untitled by Alex, on Flickr 7. | | | Posted by skatchkins Sweet! Tones, grain, and DoF look great!
| Posted by TCFalconBird 4 & 5...fossils! Nice pics, I dig the grain.
| Thanks! I didn't like the grain at first, but I've come around to like how it looks. Posted by thingamabob Sweet baby Jesus Sheavy are these gorgeous!!
| Posted by The Digital Cow Wow, those look awesome! I like 2 and 7. Whatever process you are doing looks to have payed off.
| Posted by Punchy Cool stuff, Sheavy. I didn't realize these were film shots when I saw them going up on Flickr. I'm impressed.
| Thanks you guys, I've really got the film bug right now, I'm itching to get back to a lot of places I've been and re-shoot with film. Posted by dundertits agreed on the tones man sweet sweet digital can't do that!!!! you would be absolute hell with a mamiya 7II
| Yeah, I really love the look of film, though I doubt I'll ever stop using digital. Man i'd be almost afraid to take that thing anywhere, but it sure would be nice to use. Posted by 1footinthegrave and in the midst of all the ooh's and ahh's over photography skillz.....I said (out loud) OHHHHHHHHHHHH SCIENCE YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! 1. binocular scope, dissecting scope, test tubes and an Erlenmeyer flask. Much fun could be had if you added some nice scummy pond water. 11. holy bat crap - they left Ammonium Nitrate?? What the F? hope you didn't take any. Its dangerous in its pure form. Mostly used in rural areas as a soil fertilizer, but its seriously explosive if mixed with certain things and lets just say the local meth heads would want it. badly. it drives a reaction like a 2 ton bus. Anyway, that pretty blue stuff I'd bet was Biuret's reagent, or it could have been Benedict's solution. Every high school everywhere has it to test for the presence of proteins (Biurets) or reducing sugars (Benedicts). Its actually pretty fun stuff. Thanks for letting me remember my first days as a TA (the biuret's reagent) in a crumbling building at GT - the old textiles engineering lab - complete with asbestos raining down on the benches. Yeah, our dumb asses wiped it down each lab. Great pictures always tell a great story.
| Thanks! You're welcome for the trip down memory lane . You would get quite a kick from exploring this place I imagine, Ammonium Nitrate is hardly the only thing left here that shouldn't have been. Untitled by Alex, on Flickr Untitled by Alex, on Flickr Untitled by Alex, on Flickr and much more...
