Dreams about exploring

This may be an odd question/discussion, but I'm curious to hear others thoughts/experiences.

A couple of nights ago, I woke up from having a dream about a place I explored. The real place is trashed beyond saving, but in the dream, someone had done a bunch of work and was living in the place. They did nothing to the outside, but the inside was quite nice and livable. I was also exploring with some really good friends of mine who I have never explored with in real life. I was stunned thinking "How in the hell did they get this place to where they could stay here?"

It was one of those where I knew where I was at, but the place was not the same as in real life, if that makes sense. There were areas I had never seen before and were exploring. The people who were squatting came back and caught us, and ended up frisking us for knives.

It wasn't too much later, they were walking us to another area, we were not sure what to do, as we did not want to piss them off further, but in this process they took us to another area I had not been before. It wasn't too long after I woke up.

Maybe I have been spending too much time around here, but I just thought it was interesting. I would be curious to hear if this has happened to anyone else, and if they would share and elaborate, I would love to hear them!

I have urbex dreams all the time. Usually they're very enjoyable, but when I wake up I'm just disappointed because I didn't get to keep the pictures.

I know!! I hate how fast the images from the dream fade too. Like now I only remember bits and pieces, I always wish I could fall back asleep and finish, but that never happens.

Haha, I remember when I was about 12 or maybe 13 years old, a couple of friends and me went to an abandoned house and in the basement, we found a plastic hand I thought was real. I had nightmares for weeks man.

Sometimes a dream is just a dream.
-Or- is it Dreamtime; exploring the future...

I once found a massive underground chamber in a dream being converted into some kind of cultural space while I explored it.

Best dream experience I had, I went to a location that turned out to be haunted with ghosts wandering around. Ghosts aren't real so I immediately knew I was in a dream, but my first instinct was to set up my tripod and take pictures of them so I'd have some form of proof of them after I woke up. Turns out memory cards don't work that way though.

Making fun of disabled people and prostitutes? I don't have achondroplasiaphobia so I don't see the point of making fun of people with dwarfism.

Being very short isn't a disability. And they have the same right to sell their bodies as anyone else.

Being a "midget" is actually a disability. Dwarfism is recognized under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I remember a dream being in my grandparents basement, and finding a secret room full of valuable vintage stereo equipment, it was so real I almost wanted to go looking for it when I woke up. Haha.

And yeah I second the memory card thing, I remember having my camera on me in the dream, but I don't remember using it. Still though just a card so I could play back the dream would have been really nice.

I once had a dream of exploring the Statue of Liberty. With Rich Piana. We were just having fun, comparing our dick to balls ratio, when a bunch o' zombies started chasing us. Rich pissed oil all over the stairs; the undeads just kept slipping and we just laughed at 'em. Ahhhhhhh, good times.

I usually dream about exploring tunnels. It's been a long time since I've done any real urbexing, i miss it,.. but it's too dangerous these days IMO. But I still dream about it.

I agree.
First abandoned house I went into I was 8
Me and a Nabor going into old Nabor's house who had passed
Ever since that day I go back to that place every time I prepare
My dreams lead me to the next best adventure
Glad I'm not alone

I have occasional dreams about alternate versions of places I've explored. I recognize key features, but everything else is different.

A little while ago, I had a dream exploring a house with the entire front façade of the building missing, so you could see people exploring it from the street. I remember distinctly too this was in Toronto's west end.
Well, I was recently in that same area, and there was a row of houses with their entire fronts ripped off! Too bad they weren't as interesting as that dream implied.

One day I got a good camera.

That's awesome! And yeah dreams have a way of making things way more interesting than real life.

I've had two recently, only one that I remember though;
The first one, I explored a middle school (it's nowhere I recognized, but a I somehow knew it was one) while carrying a bunch of bags. I had put them down, suddenly had to run away from police, got away, and then realized I left my bags in the cafeteria. Went back in, grabbed my things, and hid from the police in a freight elevator before I woke up.

I had one last night... the spot vaguely resembled a huge abandoned factory in Chicago I've been to. Security showed up while I was separated from my camera gear for whatever reason, and the rest of the dream was me attempting to get my stuff back after dark. Oh yeah, and the place was being demolished "tomorrow". Weird.

Its funny what our minds come up with when we are unconscious. I've really enjoyed reading (re reading) the responses in this thread! Its cool that people have opened up with their experiences.

So did you get your gear back??
