Cool pictures! And Yeah, I drive past the corner house / lot on Plessis and Grassie every day to get to work. Not once have I seen a guy around there. Although I thought it was abandoned a year or so ago, but there were lights shining through the sheet draped over the window, Grassie side.

Really curious!

Over there in that pigpen, I found a couple of Shoshoni arrowheads.

What's interesting is I looked the property up on the City of Winnipeg tax assessment website. The property has neither city water or sewer hooked up to it. Definitely stuck in time, it's kinda neat.

Sometimes the most interesting part of urbex happens to be the stories surrounding the people who occupied a place. So much changes over time, so much is forgotten. I've heard it said that nobody alive today understands what it means to truly live in poverty, but I've met old guys who can tell stories from their parents of growing up sleeping on a dirt floor. History is so very important, and it's more than just the stories that make the news. There's history in the way people live. It would be helpful if we paid more attention to how far we've come.

New to Urbex here. Figured i would post some pictures of a trip my friend and i went on today. We went to go see an old house i had heard of but it seems it was demolished. We found this little shack for electrical and possibly plumbing?

Sorry for image quality as i was using my phone for this. Any advice or tips would be appreciated as my friend and i are planning to go on another trip soon to a substantially more difficult location.

Seems like most if not all of the buildings in Winnipeg have been demolished, a real shame, just checked out the cement factory behind Ikea with a few buddies. If anyone knows of any other buildings let me know!

Pretty cool, we managed to get into the office area and take a look, old documents, many rooms and lots to explore in there definitely worth a look, if you plan on going up to the silo be very careful, Some bolts on the ladder are loose but it's doable.

In a way sad to see it go. Sure wish someone had told me it was going to be demolished PRIOR to me risking life and limb crawling around in the ceiling and disgusting wall chases installing Wi-Fi a few months earlier

Was working behind there today; for the longest time I thought the place was active but once you see the carnage up close it's clear what's live and not. City Mix is busy as hell directly behind it / beside it. I understand they purchased the site buildings and all and have a fair amount of security on site due to all the vandalism and constant trouble in the area. Would sure like to check it out, reminds me of the old Canada Packers site in St. B back in the day.

The small building with the old electrical and the plumbing is very interesting.. Would it be for the house that was there? I can't even guess at what it would be for. Super cool!

I stumbled across an abandoned property last week while visiting a friend east of the city and we went for a quick explore. The property had steel gates on nice concrete pillars, and the property had three buildings: a house, a small shack, and a large stable. There was nothing I found too interesting about the place other than there were an unusually large amount of old matresses in the stable. In any case, just thought I would share a few photos of the property, I hope the last photo of the brass cap found in the grass across the road is ok to post.

Cheers.

Lots of security around the area for sure. More cops cruising around the side streets as well. When I was there last, and from what I recall, there were only two site trailers in the back lot beside the beer store, and a couple dump trucks. But I was there just as they were in the reno stage. Wonder what they're working on in there now?

Ok. So I finally got some intel on the house at the corner of Plessis and Grassie from a relative who spoke directly with someone who frequents the property. Here is what they found out:
- The property at 2110 Plessis road is not abandoned.
- There is an elderly woman who lives there.
- The woman is the original landowner.
- She has children who visit her from time to time.
- Her husband passed away just a few years ago.

I drove by the property on Sunday night and it really looks abandoned and then some, but low and behold there was a light on in the building closest to the corner. It is fascinating to me, and also makes me realize how boring it can get in the middle of winter in Winnipeg, hahaha.

I have been on a few explorations this winter in south-western rural Manitoba, but nothing worth sharing really. If someone is heading out to explore any abandoned sites in Winnipeg and does not mind having me tag along please let me know.

Attached are screenshots from Google Earth of the property at the corner of Plessis and Grassie.

Have a good winter!
