A few members of this site should be familiar with this great location. I saw your guy's signatures on the whiteboard.

Between 2006 and 2009 the province closed a shitload of schools (more than 30.) This public school was one of them. (My elementary school was actually a part of that list as well.) The closing of this kindergarten to grade 12 school killed this small town. This school, like many others, was closed due to low enrollment and infrastructure cost. The school opened in 1965, and is 23 000 square feet, and in my opinion large. It had a gymnasium, stage, industrial arts room, home economics room, a darkroom, a science lab, and the usual things a K-12 school should have. It also had minimal vandalism; most of the damage was from mother nature.
I found this place with a bit of research, and decided to scout it out one weekend, and I was not disappointed.

As usual I go out to a location expecting to find nothing, and end up finding something great, and then I'm left there wishing I had my gear with me. I returned a month later to take these photos.

Other than that, I'll shut up and let the photos speak for themselves.

Photos taken Jan 2017.
Unfortunately it was too dark for a photosphere : (
Enjoy the photos!

1.

Front entrance covered in frost, despite it not being that cold.

2.

Stairway from the front entrance to the basement.

3.

Basement hallway.

4.

Small home economics room, with a piano in it for some reason, the music room was down the hall.

5.

Girls washroom, black mold is slowly taking over.

6.

Mens washroom, sorry for the graininess of the photo, it was pitch black.

7.

Music room!

8.

Typewriter in a storage room.

9.

Classroom.

10.

11.

Boiler room.

12.

Up to the second floor.

13.

Seconded floor hallway.

14.

Possibly the computer lab, lots of floppy disks on the table.

15.

Classroom.

16.

Classroom.

17.

The back room of the science lab.

18.

The beautiful science lab, untouched by people it seems.

19.

20.

Water fountain.

21.

Mural.

22.

Moving on to the second wing of the building.

23.

The foyer, main entrance, and library behind the camera, office/staffroom to the right, hallway to the other wing through the green doors, gymnasium through the blue doors, and classrooms down the locker hallway.

24.

Mossy frosty main entrance.

25.

Staffroom/office, left my flashlight in the shot. Oopsy.

26.

Staffroom/office.

27.

Library.

28.

Library.

29.

Hallway.

30.

The principal's office, there was a safe full or student and building records in this room.

31.

Moldy couches.

32.

Classroom.

33.

Lockers.

34.

A juicy photo of the lockers.

35.

This room was in the best shape, followed by the science lab.

36.

Girls shitter, connected to the girls change room, connected to the gym.

37.

Girls change room.

38.

My favorite room in the school. I tried my best, but it seemed difficult to take a photo of this gym that gives the viewer the best perspective...Even with a 10mm lens, it just didn't seem to be wide enough. I guess it's something you have to experience in person to get the whole immersion.

39.

The extreme prairie temperatures are playing with the gyms wooden floor.

40.

More warped flooring near the stage, equipment room to the right, most of the equipment is out as you can see.

41.

Equipment room.

42.

View from the back of the stage looking out at the gym.

43.

A room before the industrial arts room.

44.

Same room, different angle.

45.

Industrial arts room with dust collection ducts in the ceiling.

46.

The darkroom, for film negative development.

Overall, sad to see. Seeing what looked like a thriving school killed like this. My elementary school was part of this same wave of school closures, sad knowing that my school was in this state at one point.
However a great location that's easy to enter, and minimal vandalism.

Nice photos! I really enjoyed your post, exploring a school is something I really want to be able to do at some point, I find them really creepy. I really like #26 and 29

We are having the same thing happen over here in Ottawa. They want to close a ton of schools and most of theme have Asbestos so they wont demo them immediately. Ottawa's about to get way more interesting. Nice pics i really like the photo spheres you do its a shame you could not do one with this place.

I see you found it. It's a nice location - glad to hear our signatures are still around lol.

Beautiful photos, it's always nice to see a location that hasnt been totally trashed years later.

I am happy to see that it wasn't vandalized between our visit in the summer of 2015, and now. We scouted this school in April 2014, but we weren't able to get in due to neighbours being nosy...besides it was pretty hard to find a place to park in that small town that wouldn't draw attention. When we finally got inside a year later, we didn't spend as much time documenting it as we would have wanted, but it was worth the trip.

FoMoCo, did you see all the cannabis growing equipment left behind in some of the classrooms? We didn't really notice at first, but then we finally put two and two together...I wonder how long they had been growing weed in there...

Anyway, congrats for finding this school, and for telling its story without giving out too many details.

Thanks for the photos! I never knew about the grow op in this school until I was informed about it, I never would have guessed that! I'm just glad the building is in great shape.

I like how the coke can on the sink (in your 7th photo) is still there in my 26th photo.

its sad that so many schools have been closed over the years. Does make it fun for urban exploration though
