Road Map

Sometimes I find myself in areas where ire is no signal and I need to rely on an actual paper map to find my way.

This might only be useful for Texans, as I am not sure about other states. But you can download a PDF of the "Texas Official Travel Map" from the Tx DPS website.

Big deal right? That is what I thought. But where I find it useful is after downloading the PDF you can manipulate the layers in the pdf to remove information that might not be of interest to you. But I find it easier to read a map without the items I am not interested in. I will print out the map area of where I plan to travel as a back up, and can also use it to make notes on and trace out my route.

GPS and such is great, but at least here in Texas' wide open areas sometimes not as reliable as a good ole paper map.

EDIT: Forgot to add link to Texas map site.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who still uses paper maps. I bought a big street map book of Ohio just because of the number of times technology has failed me driving around middle-of-nowhere Southeast Ohio.

Unless you have the county level map books, hard copies are of limited use. As huge as TX is, a simple map won't fulfill many of its needed purposes.
Best to use for an overview... Garmin/sat view for everything else.

I use to use paper maps all the time until there was something better...

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
