So, I was off work today, and I was going to stay home and take care of some honey do's around the house. But upon waking up my wife said, "Are your camera batteries charged up?"

I took that as permission to let the work around the house sit another day or so.

I had a couple of spots that have been in my head so those were my targets. The first one was a hospital that had recently closed, like last month closed. When I pulled up I could see lights still on, and three cars int he parking lot. To make a long story a little less long, I walked around checking all the doors. They were all locked tight. Came across a gentleman sitting in a break area out back. Chatted him up a bit, got him to laugh at a couple of jokes. Thought I might be in his good graces. Denied. No entrance for me today.

OK. Thats ok, this is why I always have a back up! On down the road we go!

The next location is a former chemical processing plant. Built in 1928, it started to decline in the 1950s due to cheaper raw material prices elsewhere. It operated with a skeleton crew into the 1990s. Much of the site has been dismantled. A few buildings remain, along with the smokestacks.

Upon my arrival through a couple of gates carelessly left open, seriously, all kinds of undesirables could drive right in! I headed towards the stacks that I had previously seen from a distance. Dangit. There were people there. Heck with it, I pulled up like I owned the place and started snapping away. I did not want to dally around too long though. I ducked into the closest building and ran through it taking pictures. Oh man, I want to go back when I can have the place to myself!

3. Up closer. In the long building to the left there were some people working. It looks almost like that could have been a smelting room at one time, its size and shape resembles some that I have been in at least.

4. The nearest building that was accessible.

The next few shots are from the inside of the building. I was hauling butt though there before anyone could question my presence. This was one of my favorite buildings ever!

14. This one is just to show the other buildings. The one that I went in is behind the ones you see here. I for sure want to go back and check out the one that looks like a house.

OK, so next I just started to drive around. Found this neat little bar.

19. Lots of stuff inside, I wonder if I can get in through the back...inadvisable.

20. An old gas station/restaurant that I really wish I could have gotten inside of. Doors and windows were all in tact.

The next few were my surprise for the day. An old Hotel, Movie Theater, and Pizza Place in one place. The Theater was locked up. The hotel was unlocked. It has been closed for a couple of years, and is reportedly one of the most haunted hotels around. Meh. There was music coming from upstairs and I could hear someone shuffling around, so I only took a few shots of the lobby.

24. This little house was another eatery at one time. The theatre takes up the space with no windows to the left of the little house, the pizza place takes up the green section on the right, hotel rooms above. Names have been changed to protect the innocent.

You had an AWESOME Day! Love the old Hotel Lobby! The pics of the kitchen and chairs with cobwebs are Cool!! Hope you can get back in there for some shots of the rooms and baths. Great pics of the Old Sulfur Plant. I CANT believe ALL the bottles are gone! The building you went in was a testing lab. Here is a link to my pics when it still had most of its equipment : http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0 Enjoy!

Your photos from the sulfur plant are awesome! I would have loved to see those bottles in person!

I look forward to going back and seeing more of some of those other buildings. Sounds like the people there might be a little more accommodating than the fellow at the hospital. LoL
