With the job situation looking pretty bleak, I'm not sure how much longer before I begin uttering, "Would you like fries with that sir?". That in mind, I decided to use what little time I have remaining and headed down south to do a little 'splorin.
This is a place I've had my eye on for a while. Its right across the street from the county courthouse which made for convenient parking, unfortunately it also made for high police traffic. As I was taking some exterior shots a cop rolled up, stopped and hit his lights. We both began walking towards each other and met in the open field. He then asked if I could read - not off to a good start. I said that I could to which he replied, "Then didnt you notice the sign that said no unauthorized entry, violators will be prosecuted?" I told him that I did see the sign and that I had no intention of defacing the building or removing any items, I was just there to take photos for a book I was writing.
This seemed to strike a chord. We talked about the book, all of which I made up on the spot, and other places I had visited. He thought it was pretty cool and asked for my ID and ran it, saw I wasn't wanted and told me to just be careful. I then asked him about other places in town and he just laughed and told me not to push my luck. I thanked him and the rest as they say is history! Bit of a close call but well worth it.
