Seeing that it's a long weekend here in the US of A, a few of us Texans decided it was time for another Urbex road trip (yay!). With only our passion, keen sense of adventure, and my obsession with Google Earth to guide us, we finally arrived. I can't sleep, so here I am, writing this post at 4:47am ...
Anyways.., I've made invitation threads several times, for any locals (fellow travelers are invited too!) to meet up while visiting a plethora of continental US regions, but I've never had any luck with this method. Nonetheless, I'm throwing the invite out there in hopes that myself, Good, Serendipity, and Frosty can perhaps meet another member face to face!

We'll be in Pine Bluff today and tomorrow, and later, Hot Springs (and possibly Little Rock if we have the time).

Cheers!

I've just heard a lot about the motels that are abandoned there and people finding ID's and social security cards inside of them. Honestly, pine bluff is terrifying.

We came across two motels by pure chance, both were heavily vandalized (I know at least one of them is on YouTube), not including Hotel Pines, which is in the downtown area. The two motels were practically next door to our motel.

As far as the "terrifying" aspect of Pine Bluff, it was slightly unnerving (and frankly depressing) to see so much poverty and abandonment in one place. On the flip side however, if I can survive living in the armpit of south Little Rock while 19 years old, stranded, broke, no AC or heat, and carless for nine months... I can probably endure two nights in Pine Bluff.

Speaking of Little Rock... Our luckiest find (and I mean, really a case of pure luck and perfect timing), happened to be just a couple blocks from the State Capitol building. More on that to come!

A (very) brief summary of our two days in Pine Bluff... Yes, we lived to talk about it and left the city unscathed...

I was slightly apprehensive about going, but the sheer number of abandoned places made it too hard to resist. I definitely wouldn't recommend going alone, that's probably the most important thing I would not do. We also did the majority of our exploring there in the daytime.

That said, we encountered no problems whatsoever. We had good timing too, since the majority of 5th and Main Street buildings along the northeast corner are being demolished (as in, while we were exploring across the street). I'm guessing the music store I explored a couple days will not be there by this time next week. It's probably already on its way down since they were working on the Saturday of a holiday weekend.

The best part of that town by far, is the Hotel Pines. I won't go into more detail, since I'll probably just post a thread after I go through all of my photos, but it is architecturally one of my favorite explores in my recent history.

There are countless places to explore there, but it is a town enveloped in poverty and crime, so use common sense (as always), but it's worth a visit!

There were quite a few places we didn't even get a chance to properly scout.

Yep, that would be the one. Thanks for sending my down the youtube rabbit hole, BTW, lol. That video was slightly disappointing. It wasn't very interesting, and having been to that location, it's not as bad as he makes it out to be. Don't get me wrong, it's gutted and scrapped and you feel the overwhelming urge to shower immediately afterwards. But, it's not haunted, nor is it an ex-crime scene (to my knowledge).
Pine Bluff is a sad place though. Poverty and beautiful architecture left to rot on every corner.

EDIT: I will say, however, that this guy does make some decent videos from my limited knowledge of his work. This was just not one of them, IMO.
