This is more of a shitpost, but I need to know if people actually go to these. I'm thinking about going but just not sure.

I get the notifications for this all the time but think its just automatic at this point so I never go. I'd like to go if I knew people were going to show up.

One of the best ways to meet others and mods are at these. Contact a TX mod for more insight. Targeted PMs work better most times the shotgun posts...

some people create an event, it doesn't turn out they forget to delete it so it keeps on notifying everyone

Id send a message to http://www.uer.ca/...id=&posterid=37629 and verify before driving very far I have no insight on this particular event

Opal Divine's isn't even there anymore. Nobody really even showed up at the end.

Welp, it really is a bummer the dude hasn't been online since 2014 but the system keeps creating and notifying the meet up events. I was so hyped up when I saw that too..

Never attended one myself.
I prefer to do sploring solo anyway although I occasionally will meet up with members I know well if it fits in with my work schedule and such.
I'm pretty much a lone wolf, not a pack animal

There was a mass exodus of FMs in 2012-14.
Not sure what happened to this one.
Meh... oh well

Note: ahhidkk hasn't been here in a long while.
Best way to gain your FM is to explore, post quality threads/posts and pics.
We like pics a lot.

Don't be a shake & bake... longevity is a virtue.
This site is more of a place to share sploring stories and experiences, not a means to an end in its self...
However you can meet good people through this site if you put enough time into it.
Be wary of those who are in a rush to meet.
You have nothing but time... if not, it doesn't matter.

Due to lack of people who are actually into urbex, 99% of the places I've been to I've been on my own. The problem that I see with this approach, however, is that if anything were to happen to me (specially in dark areas), no one would really and/or would be of help. Personally, having a large tourist crowd to an abandoned possibly monitored area seems like bad idea, but one or two peeps to help out and share the moment seems like a less risky to do it.

Many people explore but have no name for it, which is fine.
Exploring alone is as risky as you make it. I've splored many dangerous sites solo including Atlas F silos. People are a distraction; distractions kill. One is the best number for stealth, safety, mobility, and speed; you are 100% in control.

Survival skills are learned by doing; never depend on anyone for survival when exploring even in a group. It's -your- responsibility. Mistakes can be life altering. If it seems like a bad idea, it probably is...

Groups to not mitigate the hazards, once you make a mistake, you are there... worse you might take someone else with you through floor, roof, etc.
Spread out in a group and don't clump up when moving. Keep the chatter to a minimum in sensitive areas. Stay off of the cell phone.

Sites were you need more than one person to do are the exception, these are rare.
