| | | Anyone been to The Temple of Oculus Anubis in Oregon? < on 5/11/2016 1:50 AM > | Reply with Quote
| | | There's a mysterious, and rather well known place in Oregon known as The Temple of Oculus Anubis. I'm not sure if it's abandoned, or a ceremonial site of some kind or what it is, but it's pretty mysterious, gated up, covered in no trespassing signs, and has a lot of mystery surrounding it. People like to speculate that it's owned by the Heaven's Gate cult and might be used for rituals. But the more common theory is that it's part of a very long driveway leading to a vacant house once owned by an eccentric person who liked egyptian statues. At any rate, it's difficult to find any *reliable* information, and for such a well known site it's a little surprising how there are only pictures from the outside to be found. There are one or two very bizarre images supposedly depicting the inside of the temple, but i'm skeptical. There are stories though, of everything from people who stopped out front to take pictures being followed hundreds of miles by two white SUVs, to people being accosted by hooded figures, threatened, and allowed to explore the temple with their camera gear confiscated, and told if they returned again they would not remain alive. Anyway, it's a well known spot with lots of stories and no solid facts. Just wondering if anyone has actually been there or not.

| | | I've never heard of that place before, but it sounds a little crazy. I don't really get down with Illuminati conspiracies and stuff, though, and it looks like at least some of the rumors about it come from those kinds of websites, so they aren't worth much to me. I'd be inclined to think it's just some weirdo messing with people, but who knows. It's not too far from some close family members, though, so I may go take a peek at it the next time I'm in the area. It'd be cool to at least get a goofy photo in front of the gate. Edit: Of course, if I ever do, I'm telling multiple people and posting here first. If I don't come back, somebody call the cops, LOL!

| | | Being unemployed does have its benefits. I spent about an hour and a half looking into this "mystery". Speculation is all over the place about this "Temple". Here are the facts as I know them: The place was purchased in March, 2008 by an eyecare guy named Dr. Neal. The purchase price was $1,000,000 and this included the surrounding land (there was speculation online that the land was an additional $1,000,000 however county records indicate it was included in the purchase price). The house is 5 bedrooms and 4 baths, one story and is 4,753 Sq Ft with a 2,100 sq ft. finished basement and a 582 sq ft. garage. It was built in 1974 and sits on 5.7 acres. There were rumors of permits being issued for "tunnels" however there is no record of these in the county records. I also found a phone number for "Oculus" and made a call. The lady who answered was quite nice and told me the following. The place is indeed owned by Dr. Neal and his family, and he owns an eyecare facility near Damascus, OR. He and his family are very private people and do not like the attention or the speculation about their house. The reason for the statues is that Dr. Neal is a bit of a history buff, liked them and made them part of the landscaping of the grounds. She personally has never been to the house but said that Dr. Neal has shown her photos of both the interior and exterior which she said were beautiful. The speculation about this place is driven primarily by the fact that its in a remote location, near a small town and the statues are what most people would consider outside the norm for decoration. There is no church. There is no cult. There are no white robed people patrolling the grounds. Its just a well to do family who has an unusual interest and who wants to be left alone. Now, what I got from all of that is that the basement is actually a gateway to another dimension where people are led for human sacrifice to Anubis. This place contains a death cult and the eye clinic is just a front. They blind people, sedate them, and then take them back to the temple for ritual killing. Since its all done outside our known universe, there is no evidence. I would stay as far away from this place as I could!

| | | I did however find an article about some performers who did a gig of some kind there. http://shmanarchy....08_01_archive.html (ctrl+f anubis, it will take you to the right bit) It... does hint at something mysterious going on there. Probably just performers being performery, but what i find intriguing is the mention of the subterranean complex... again, maybe they're just trying to preserve the intrigue of the place, but i kind of feel like it could be confirmation of at least that part of the myth. Also, i'm 90% sure i met that guy "Dingo" once at a concert out of character. He introduced himself as Hershel, but i swear that's him. It was Abney Park, and... he looks like the kind of guy who would appreciate them.

| | | Posted by 13thmurder Been researching it. Apparently it's a large extended family living together on a property with multiple houses. The name of the place is a nickname of course based on... partially fact, partially crap. Oculus Inc. is a company that actually exists at the address. They sell optometry equipment. Apparently a few members of the family are optometrists as well. Basically it seems like the family profession. They Egyptian heritage somewhere distant in their family line. The statue visible from the gate is Sekhmet, the lion headed goddess. The lions outside might also be a representation of this. Turns out Sekhmet is the patron goddess of ancient egyptian doctors, so if a family of wealthy eye doctors with an egypt obsession lives here, that makes sense. There are permits for underground heated tunnels that exist for the property. Who knows what that's about. But maybe it all just sounds more... weird than it is. Apparently they connect the houses on the property together. Seems like some kind of shared basement or something.
So basically, what i've learned is it's not anything weird. It's houses a bunch of rich egypt obsessed optometrists live in, and i've accidentally been stalking them.
| Oculus? Doesn't that sound like a name that SPECTRE or Dr No would use? I'm afraid we may never see these brave explorers again if they dare to go into the diabolical lair of Dr Oculus!
| Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |
