Video Frustration... needing ideas?

I use Corel VideoStudio Pro X7 from time to time, mainly to add music to my videos. The last time I used it was about four months ago? It worked fine then. I went to use it this week and it would not even open up. It would show the message "Corel VideoStudio has stopped working Windows is checking for a solution" and close down. I have Windows Vista on my computer and I've checked for updates, shutdown, rebooted and everything else I can think of with no luck. I've searched everywhere on the net looking for help with no luck. I was thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling the software until I realized I can't find the software again so I'm screwed there. I'm grasping at straws here, any ideas? Thanks!

Is it attempting to load a project on launch? If so, it might be a problem with the project file that is causing it to crash. I'm not familiar with that specific software, so it's hard to say just from that description.

Reinstalling would be the ideal thing to try, why can't you re-acquire it if it's uninstalled? Do you have a disk? Is it a digital download? If so, you should have a key to enable you to re-download.

The horror that is Vista... rock solid instability you can count on.

See what error messages it's giving in event viewer.
If it's a side by side error I know the fix.
Run the SFC scan command, you'll need a Vista OS CD copy, any one will do to check and repair/restore Windows system files.
Run a disk check on the hdd to check/repair corrupt files, etc.
Voodoo, and human or animal sacrifices.
Google the issue.

Post an update and let us know how it's going.

I'd migrate to a more stable windows version when possible. Learn how to clone the hdd to backup the OS and critical apps with the pay version of Acronis. Clone a clean load before you load the antivirus. Best to keep a separate data hdd and OS hdd. Small clones of 8 gb or so are faster to do. Try to avoid cloning data drives; direct coping is slower but less likely to have null issues which can effect music files.
