As many of you know, i haven't been able to contribute much since my back surgery. This is something i was working on weeks before i had the accident that broke the camels back,,,lol, literally. So, please enjoy, Its not my best endeavor, but try to give me an E for Effort, if you can

The Old Art Foundry is down in a decaying Port town. At one time they did
Sculpting, Mold making, Ceramics, Painting, Drawing, and other things associated with the Artisans in that area. Now, the roof is caving in and a few pieces of its past can be found if you inch through the rubble. Im not sure when they decided to paint *Firestone Tires* on the Building, as it never had anything to do with Tires. Some say it was done by the locals who was trying to give the old building a fresh look for the one and only event they hold in that area each year...Mardi Gras.

Wait! That's what it used to look like?!? So jealous you saw it in that condition. Now it is a pile of rubble and possessions.

Yes, i wish you could of seen all those molds upstairs, i couldn't do anything but look, the whole area was already caving in... Such a shame. Now, its all down. So many cool places in that town as you know. Always upsets me that one of us couldn't of caught these places more as a time capsule. Like the Regency, you got so many awesome pics there. But, what a joy it would of been to shoot it even 5 to 10 years earlier. I did try, but, the owners would always say, NO Can Do! Now, its all so rough they don't care. Guess, they figure if you are crazy enough to go in there now, its not their problem, its the cities mess to clean up. Thanks For your comment IndoA.

Thanks blackhawk for your comment and question, In 1938, the building was originally a Laundry as can be seen here : http://texashistor...451/m1/1/sizes/xl/
Looking through the Texaco station you can see this building... Many of the adjacent buildings are no longer there.

Who ran the art studio, when, and what become of them?

I really don't know who ran the Art Foundry...But, at least one man who use to work on his pieces there went on to Greater things, and is now a very busy Sculptor. I talked with his apprentice via email and he was suppose to call me personally around the Holidays, but he was very busy working on several bronze sculptures that he had to get finished for Christmas. I hope to reconnect with him because i think that pic of the Stallion i took might be one of his early attempts. I sent the pic to him, and haven't heard back as of yet/ I was hoping he could fill in the blanks. I have so many unanswered questions.

Ok, now that's cool! Bronze sculptors are an interesting and rare lot.
Hope you get to chat with him. If you could tour his current studio that be fun too.

y'all gonna get tired of hearing this but you should consider adding that to the DB you already have some great history and the photos will stay there instead of getting bumped down the list and archived in this thread
