Demo began on Staten Island building where teen fell to death
http://www.nbcnewy...lo-332982781.html#

I don't mean to be insensitive, someone died, but blaming the building is ridiculous. Humans are just ridiculous in general I guess, especially when it comes to their loved ones.

Yes, your son might still be alive if the building had been demolished. According to the CDC, approximately 30,000 people accidentally fell to their deaths in 2013- should we immediately go demolish all of those buildings/cliffs/cranes/whatever too? (source: http://www.cdc.gov...idental-injury.htm)

Even if the building wasn't there, he may have found another equally stupid way of getting himself killed by now. It sounds like natural selection to me.

edit; also, more people died from "accidental poisoning" than both falling and car crashes? Umm? Does this seem wrong to anyone else?
edit again; OH- drugs.

Oh god here we go. That same old tired argument, "Buildings dont kill people. People kill people". If I've heard it once I've heard it a thousand times. When are you building nuts going to wake up and realize that buildings are a scourge in this country?

If you look at other countries that dont have buildings, such as the remote villages in Africa, the number of building deaths is ZERO. Thats right ZERO. What we need are reasonable building controls to reduce the number of building deaths and keep these kids away from buildings.

I believe in building rights, but we need to begin looking at measures that prevent this senseless slaughter of our people.

in response to the first one, I grew up exploring there. So sad to know this happened. I heard about it once it happened, being from around there and all. This is why I hate when teens go and "chill" there. Someone always gets hurt, no one thought it would've been that bad....
