A Few Interesting Sights in Israel

A few days ago, I returned home from a ten-day organized trip to Israel. Because the trip was guide-led and our activity schedule was busy, I had no expectations for anything UE-related. However, I ended up seeing a few spots, both off and on the schedule, that were pretty neat.

Enjoy!

First, a few small structures seen from the bus in the Golan Heights:

In Zefat, a couple random ruins:

While in the northern part of the country, my group spent about an hour at Mt. Bental. Here, a small military structure/group of bunkers, used in the battle for the Golan Heights during the Yom Kippur War in 1973, remains open to visitors at their own risk.

8 A blocked-off opening:

10 An entrance to the underground bunker:

11

12 One hall led to a small square room.....

13 .....with a view of Israel, Lebanon, and Syria:

14

15 One of several small interconnecting rooms in the interior of the bunker had a poster with historical information on the battle:

16

17 A way out:

Near the end of the trip, the group stayed at a kibbutz overlooking the Lebanese border. Here, A few friends and I found a small in-use water tower, which we climbed at night (unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch the night view with my camera):

18

19 Nearby, another small concrete military structure:

20 Overlooking Lebanon:

21 An Israeli lonely chair:

Finally, on the last night of the trip, we stayed at a hotel near Tel Aviv with an entire unused 2nd floor. Because of the condition of the abandoned rooms and the hotel's fairly new appearance, I couldn't tell if they were left over from an abandoned remodeling project or if they had simply never been finished. Even stranger was that access to the floor was incredibly easy. Me and a friend were happy to spend our last few hours in Israel checking the place out.

22 A wide-open door to an empty hall:

23

24 One of a few rooms that were used for storage:

25 Making shadow puppets on one of the unused balconies:

Thanks a lot guys! Israel really is a great country, and is really diverse for being so tiny. I'd love to go back someday.
