RevBeel sorry about your retreat being burned, it is a shame. I have spent a large part of the day searching throughout Beacon Hill Park, unfortunately I have yet to find the location, at this point at least.
| Thankee for your humanity, but I was slumming it on purpose, siding with my street brethren, and giving a morally superior fuckyou to then-mayor Lowe. As far as the location of the cave, All I have to say is: I sure wish I hadda spent a large part of the day roaming the park. I'm stuck in Ottawa, where the high point of the month was going to the canal, hoping to see some ice melt. You are close, I think. Emily Carr stashed some stuff, nearby, I've heard.

Finally...Michelle Remembers is bullshit.
| Woo-Hoo!! I 'member them golden days of tabloid tv. The house, between Dallas, and Battery, is still satanic/disney creepy, esp. at 0300h. But, for a real kick, you gotta hit http://www.anawimhouse.com/ , just down Caledonia from the fuzz; At their Xmas dinner, Michelle (the patron saint of the two ex-bankers running this racket), herself, still spouts hooey. NB-They don't like Q&A about the tunnels to hell, or what The Lord of the Flies favorite position was. Wankers.

Just when I thought I was done with the park.
| I can't imagine ever being done with the park. All kinds of hidden/forgotten things to uncover. For example, I was there, when 3 parks guys (Al, Jeff, and John} removed some Songhees burial mounds off the south slope of Beacon Hill. I notified Monday Magazine about it, and a few days later, the mounds were kinda replaced. By kinda, I mean not in the same place, and looking sorta randomized. I don't know if any artifacts were found, taken, or replaced.

| | | Posted by J Peterman It was my understanding that NinjaKlutz was compelled to leave the forums out of respect for the physical spaces themselves. He was particularly concerned with who to trust with locations. He had a very justifiable feeling of responsibility over protecting these spaces and keeping them safe. Secondly, though, and more significantly...he always made sure to be careful with the information & imagery he shared online. He's worked a lot with A.Lien, TacDiCal and myself. The research range of this guy is well into the 100's of hours. It was his passion, his devotion. He was committed to not posting about certain spots because they were so rare/significant. As opposed to letting his eager excited self drop tidbits which could lead to a spot getting burned off the jump. Even so he expressed to me he was troubled with frustration over people using the forums like a tourist map. Once the TC reported on a tunnel he was investigating and they weren't exactly vague. In his words "So many locations we cherish have been subject to outright destruction due to unnecessary publicity." This is the internet and whatever gets posted, gets posted. We've all posted things in the early days which didn't seem like a big deal at the time, but in retrospect these morsels brought unnecessary heat on the location. He also grew concerned with the increase of accessibility to information about Victoria's underground. Victoria is very unique, with regards to it's subterranean infrastructure. It is a treasure of sorts, with a highly rich history that has few parallels anywhere else. But it is a highly sensitive heritage: being a small city, there aren't that many tunnels, and access points are at high risk of increased surveillance and even destruction. Our subterranean playground is LIMITED and shrinking be it by gravel poured in by bulldozers or perfect street lids being sealed. None of this HAS to be posted. None of this HAS to be public. It was my and NK's belief that the forums should be where the myth is discussed, where we trade ideas around and communicate en mass. Not the dickslinging photo debut it has become. It was supposed to be about the tease (the single photo of an undisclosed location accompanied by a riveting writeup about the adventure to get there). I don't want to sound condescending or angry here. I feel that as an explorer in Victoria's UE community it's kind of my responsibility (as it may be yours) to relay caution to others about disseminating information that could compromise the integrity of our city's incredible subterranean infrastructure, and the interests of other explores. We all share in this heritage together, so please, please think twice about the consequences of your actions, both online and in the streets. I have a lot of love for the new explorers / newcomers in Victoria. But understand our concern that it has been made too easy for people to access sites without having to do the extensive research that we did when we discovered these places for ourselves. That's what it should be for everyone DISCOVERY for yourself which bestows you with a sense of parental protection for these locations. For me, with every picture I see of said underground space before I get there comes the diminished wonder and adventure in my personal discovery. For the reasons mentioned above, I've also taken a backseat to the forums. Essentially once I realized that my forum additions took away from the community more than they gave. For those of you doing the in-person meet ups/pouring over maps. You're doing it right. This public forum internet stuff is just for fun, you don't necessarily have make it a show & tell. Leave us salivating with imagination. ;)
| I agree with a lot of what you're saying J Peterman, the tease of the locations is important to maintain this can be achieved by not showing images or videos of the location entrances or stating the precise location of entrances openly, definitely a extremely good policy/ethic to follow, nobody wants to see the locations burned. If done properly images and videos in abundance or just one or two can add to the tease, finding the entrances is a gigantic tease, images and videos only invigorate my curiosity and resolve to enter these locations. UER is a large part, however not the only part of what puts the magic into these locations. Many of these locations are part of history and history should be documented and told, mind you in a respectful way. Nothing wrong with a bit of show & tease. I may have done a few things differently in some of my previous posts here and there, which I had made requests to the moderators to remove some items, which they mostly complied with my request. There is definitely some items I desired to post but deemed it irresponsible to do so.

| | | Posted by RevBeel Woo-Hoo! I'm loving this thread. Grinning like a cat eating shiat out of a hairbrush. Been hitting pages at random, and, for all it's worth, I'm glad I got here. I wouldn't be suprised to find that I've met some of you before (No Print springs to mind). (Btw Meggaman, I hope you aren't always so quick to buy into everything you read). In the event, as I know that you must be innundated with a certain number of cranks, and cops, here is an introductory vid to help you see in which camp I stand. Starts at 6:50 here: https://www.youtub...atch?v=8DxxoIot3CM Nice reply #
| Always "The Man" on us Victorian folks, squatters, or not. It's even worse that the Government can block up these beautiful places of history, and deny of it's existence. I think it's our right as Victorians to be able to know the truth of what is below our feet. This would give us all a better understanding of our Capital called Victoria, it's a real shame.

| You know it, Artemis. I was completely smitten with the area, its history, and all the secrets, as soon as I arrived, in 1976. It was in the 'Church', buried under the bowels of Bastion Square, sitting at a tiny, (soon to be)blood-stained-terry-cloth-covered table, marvelling, and quaking at the spectacle(all whilst trying not to get my then 117 lb. ass carded) that I first heard about the underground. Since then, I've paid attention, and noticed a couple of things. I'm looking forward to getting back home, and meeting with you underground miscreants. BTW, what got all y'all into this?

| Hm. I've always had a knack for getting myself into both trouble and places I wasn't supposed to go. Since I've always been interested in history and this great city of ours, it was only a matter of time before I ended up here.

| | | The reason why I got into this is because, I'm a 3rd generation Victorian in my family, I've always had a fascination with our Beautiful City, it's buildings, and the railway system which I can still remember as a child going over the now galloping goose trestle which was an amazing sight for a 7 year old. When I first heard of the secretes of the underground when I was about 13, I had to know more of this, although I didn't know where to start. About 10-15 years later I started searching online, even though I didn't really know what I was looking for at the time. I found 1 site, which later then a few individuals pointed to another site called UER, after that point.. all the pieces started fitting together. I didn't realize that I wasn't the only crazy 1 who loved this hobby. Follow the rabbit hole, you never now where you will end up.
