Hi everybody

I kind of knew that this was the tallest viaduct in New Zealand. But reading up about it afterwards, I was surprised to learn at 95 metres (312 ft) it is the tallest in Australasia. Bit of a bitch to get down to its base. I got real cut up by blackberry and what we call "cutty grass". But all in all it was a worthwhile experience.

Cool video, the fish-eye works good for things like this, it gives a good sense of how it would feel to climb on those massive supports.

I would like to climb things here but people are so scared shitless of liability or terrorism, and other passers-by hate fun so much, that the cops would inevitably be called and the situation would end poorly. I do have an advantage in that I am not brown, so I would be less likely to have guns pointed at me by those cops if things do go south, but I would still rather stay off bridges unless it's at night and in a less busy area.

I would also probably use a harness and lanyard, because I am a huge pussy, but also because I don't want my childish hobbies to get me killed.

"See you guys, you never listen to me. I said there was gonna be trouble but you didn't listen to me. You guys are crazy. You know, you guys are self destructive. There's a funny farm and it has your names written all over it. But I'm gettin' out of here. I'm... I smell ice cream!"

How bad were your forearms burning at some points? That's a wicked climb.

Good luck with finding fun, LuminousAphid. This place is sufficiently rural to not attract unwanted attention. My friends told me I looked tiny compared to the structure, and so I wasn't overly visible. It's enjoyable to get the GoPro out during daylight. It really struggles with low light shooting.

Cheers MonkeyLunk. I don't remember arms burning. Though one hand and wrist wasn't so good - I broke a bone a few weeks back. It was a workout, and my breathing was heavier as I went up. But I take plenty of time. Each level I stop, restart the GoPro, make sure I'm feeling okay and am ready for more, then proceed. I edit all those pauses out.
