concrete slab under a carport? who'd ever think of that! most people would think its for parking a, car or something...

(all kidding aside there is a huge underground "bunker" type facility up there, from what I know its active/dormant and not UER-able and its not the one on the Loop)

his pic 2 of 29 doesn't look like it was taken in Denton county but who knows, I am not familiar with this person maybe he's on to a vast gubermantspiracy or something

Yes, I know about that bunker, too.

Normally my bs-meter is highly sensitive when it comes to talk of top secret underground tunnels, however, Denton being the center of one of the largest FEMA divisions in the country, this actually may not be that far-fetched.

On the other hand, there is the matter of posting location information that makes me question the motivations of this individual. I guess it's fairly harmless, though, since all the sites are in plain view of the public and what s/he's divulging isn't necessarily how to enter the tunnels, simply where the entrances are/were.

The Denton area had a Nike site & still has the FEMA (Office of Civil Defense, back in the late 1960s when the place was built) Federal Regional Center, nothing else military. If there'd been a secret military base there, they never would have located the FRC nearby.

The FRC isn't really "huge," nor super-secret. Though not open to the public, they've hosted tours for civic groups, hosted training classes for local emergency management people, etc.

What sort of dummkopf these days pays for a web URL & host for a web site about an old "secret bunker system" but then just posts some crude, hand-drawn sketches up instead of digital photos, links to Google Earth overhead images, etc? A crackpot, that's who!

/-/ooligan

P.S. I'm a scholar of contemporary military bunkers -- I'd love to be proven wrong.

I agree with /-/ooligan's assessments 99% of the time but there was an article in the mainstream press many years ago (before the Internet) about this so called bunker, its not a military site per se but a civilian shelter built during the cold war.

Im not even sure FEMA was in charge of it. I'll see if I cant dig it up, ha not really dig but research it..

edit: Ok this didn't take long after Google Earthing some of this guys poorly drawn maps it would appear that everywhere there is a playground or tennis court or utility vault he is seeing secret government bunkers Old roads get bypassed by new roads all the time and not just to avoid secret bunkers:

Anyway maybe somebody around there can go field check this one for us at:
33°14'11.01"N x 97° 9'36.12"W doesn't look like much will be visible and I can think of better ways to seal a secret airshaft than disguising it as a Frisbee golf tee box!

Don't get me wrong Id love to see evidence of such a facility I might even post a modest reward

Sorry AtticAddict for hi-jacking your thread, guess I got carried away with this one since we had a few lively Denton discussions here back in 2005 or 2006, I think a lot of the confusion about Denton prevalent on the Internet stems from Denton having a FEMA Ctr region VI (with underground facility) formerly Civil Defense region V that's basically just a com unit (call center) and a personnel bunker for emergency use by the country's leadership, AND a Nike AA missile base which a lot of people mistakenly call "silos" or bunkers. Google adds to this confusion I might add.

Theres also an Atlas F Silo for Dyess AFB in a community called Denton Valley, not the Denton north of DFW

My thoughts exactly.

Welcome to Denton!

Sorry AtticAddict for hi-jacking your thread
Nonsense! Another lively Denton discussion was long overdue. Thanks for the good info. I'll see what I can do about claiming that reward. ;)

You would be the first person Id call for this road trip ridin brother.

So then.

Not wishing to turn this old thread into another controversial Super Collider Super Bunker treatise but this guy somehow managed to sell his story to Texas Country Reporter, somehow, complete with his out of context images and hand drawn diagrams of tennis courts. And a few others not on his website were added.

Just got my first cup of coffee and turned on the TV and there it was Bob Philips narrating a short story on the secret underground facility(ies) in Denton TX.

I immediately recognized the hand drawn maps. http://texascountr...ems/april-4-5-2015

No video to watch on the TCR site yet, but the images were obviously some archival shots of some tunnels and bunkers, somewhere, some were black and white looked like 1950s vintage thrown together by careful editors.

It was a short piece but this guy's web page is now linked on the TCR site.

I love a good conspiracy story or shadow government secret bunker theory as much as the next guy. But Ill defer to /-/ooligans knowledge of this stuff. I think somewhere in between FEMA, FRC, a tennis court, some old collapsed storm drains and a secret shadow government story is the truth or a combination of half-truths maybe.

Funny you should dig this back up 2X! I was actually just talking to AtticAddict about this very thread a little while ago. I have been going to Denton a lot recently and I think there MAY be some truth to this guys crazy rantings..... I was able to find some Denton County historical aerial photos, and sure enough there ARE concrete buildings in some of the spots where there are now only silos. These silos can be seen by street view and they don't seem to have ANY purpose besides just sitting there.....

who knows.... maybe he's not so crazy

I haven't made time to go backwards in googley earth but its worth looking at

hoping Bob Phillips team will post the video or at least some of the pics they aired because they are not on the Denton secrets website and may be editorial creativeness

I knew there was something to tie this into the super collider thing I knew it...

http://virtualglob...lerator/view/bing/

I had heard about an SSC or part of the SSC in Denton, maybe a related research facility I doubt any connection. I'll have to see if I have some images on here.

knew Id been there a long time ago but my memory aint what it used to be fortunately this sites search feature works really well

Denton is just weird enough for this to be true. Or at least partly. I'd be down for exploring some of the abandoned bunkers, but I ain't going near FEMA (without a proper invitation, that is).

Keep us updated on the TCR posting. Did they give the dude's name?

Oh, and 2X: thanks for introducing me to that Virtual Globetrotting website. I could waste an entire day looking at that stuff.

they may have given his name but I turned it on about 1/2 minute into a 2 minute story

yeah nothing to see at FEMA just get yourself on some watch list and a federal rap

yep globetrotter site is cool some content needs more than a grain of salt

just spent 45min going back and re-reviewing this guys hand drawn maps on Googoo earth, one thing we know is hes not very good at hand drawing maps eg, north should be at the top but you can still figure these out

he missed several other "air shafts" along 288 and 2164 they appear newer than the so called 600 acre bunker system, and appear to be part of a storm water management system, for the loop

those mounds are just construction debris and dirt left over from, construction

Im calling BS on this for now, as Fox Mulder used to say though: I want to believe! Nothing would be more fun than to discover a 600 acre underground bunker

I just walked all over a 580 acre deer lease this last fall I know exactly how large 600 acres is (plus or minus 20ac)

edit: yes Denton is weird remind me to tell you about the parties back in the 70s out near Bolivar on Clear Creek woohoo..

Right. Think I'll pass.

I wholeheartedly agree with this verdict. Hopefully someday some better evidence will come to light.

niiiice! In turn I could regale you with stories about Fry St. shenanigans in the 90's....
