Reposting from the rookie thread because i was told to introduce myself here in the South

Hi everyone! My name is Daniel and i'm actually pretty experienced (3 years and 50 + buildings explored) in the art of urbexing and i've used this site for reference for quite some time. However one thing i have NOT done is contributed to this website in any way shape or form. iv'e just leeched off the free locations to find and explore, but for the most part my success has been from finding places on my own to explore, since i can't see any of the super secret member locations on here.

So... before i go on, a little more about myself.

I've always had a fascination with abandoned buildings since highschool, when some friends invited me to come with them to "the clubhouse" which was basically an abandoned small hotel in greenville where all the highschool kids went to smoke pot. I just wanted to see the building so i tagged along, and in my eagerness, naiveness, and a wanting to show off my parkour skills (lol) jumped onto the neighboring buildings roof and made a loud thump which caused the tenants to come out and threaten to call the police.

Since then i've learned a lot.

I have gained a respect and admiration for these old abandoned marks of time, and i am an avid photographer (with no camera... I leech off my girlfriends dslr for that ) I have a flickr account with a lot of my urbex photography if anyone would like to check it out. (not sure if i can post a link?)

I love the standards of the urbexing community and adhere to the "leave nothing but footsteps and take nothing but photos" philosophy. I HATE the destruction of property, and never use any entrance that would cause damage. I love these solemn places and adore the atmosphere.

My girlfriend is usually my companion in all my adventures (seriously no better way to avoid suspicion while lock picking a padlock on the street, then making out with your girl when cops roll by) but has recently moved to AZ and picked up her own adventures there. So right now im partnerless haha (any good kissers here? )

So now to the point of this post really. I'm not that great with the whle forum scene and keeping up with posts and stuff, but i would love to contribute and also... gain that membership access to hidden locations. So here is my question...

Is it worth it? i know it takes some dedication to the community to get it, and its not that i'm not social or anything, quite the contrary, it's just i'm no good with keeping up online. also are there really a bunch of hidden locations (texas) i can't see? I'm getting to a point where personal scouting and google search is running dry with places to visit. So I need some help finding new places. Also i would love to find some people to go exploring with!

Sorry for the long post guys but just had a lot to say also is this the right place to post this? should i repost in the main forum? anyways thanks guys!!!

ps.. oh and here is a few photos!

- if youre no good at keeping up with stuff online why would you join an Internet forum and ask for locations?

- have you looked in the Location Data Base? (UE DB ) lots of good locations there that are public accessible and, just because a location is "hidden" i.e. full member only access doesn't mean its not boring and craptacular

I joined because I would like to see what other out there are doing and to contribute to the community, by not good at keeping up, i mean i probably won't log on here every day or even every week sometimes, because i'm busy or because i haven't explored anything recently. and yes i know of the free DB, I've just visited most of the ones in my area and i'm looking for more

All of the locations in the UE DB (LDB ) are free some are restricted to full members for a couple of reasons, or maybe 3 reasons..ie. full membership does not cost anything (donations are still welcome I think)

6 locations in Greenville TX, only 2 are marked for full member only access but quite honestly, they shouldn't be. They are not sensitive one is no longer accessible, if the owner of the DB entry would update it you would know before traveling to some location only to find it bulldozed or active and full of employees.

If everyone pitched in the LDB would be better, especially for the status, security and demolished features. Some of us may not go back to some locations in the near future.

Also consider that a great many great locations are not even in the DB as some members chose to keep them to themselves or don't want them to show up in some amateur photographer's blog or something. You can start a whole nuther debate on the value of the LDB, but it is in my opinion one of the neatest aspects of UER.

I am in the process of making all my locations available except those with some risk or those where the statutes not run. I understand both sides of the debate.

Now go "UER" some locations of youre own and don't just follow other people around

Welcome to UER, adventuretimexplorermime.

You gotta have kinda think skin around here it seems. Lotta folks seem to like to give new arrivals the cold shoulder. Not sure I understand why; they just do.

Anyway, if you're looking for some new places to explore, shoot me a PM; I'll help you out.

Hi, welcome to UER! those are some great pics, and I like your enthusiasm.

as with most forums being new you will catch some flak but don't worry about it. stick around, read stuff, ask questions, make your own contributions of photos and answer other ppls questions.

glad to have you, hope you stick around!

Hey Daniel. I've never met a Daniel I didn't like (we're good people haha!) Anyway, good move to want to contribute. I'm sure you'll find it rewarding - even if it's just in terms of getting to know others, if there is no 'secret DB' incentive. And there's plenty of opportunity to contribute until your post count is up where you could get the nod for full membership. Those arches shots are mint!
