I've been crazy inactive, so I doubt anyone remembers me. No matter, here are a small amount of pictures from my latest explores:

Clothing factory:

Garage:

(No idea why that last one uploaded so small and pixelly)

Anyway, the Garage used to be another sort of factory until it had a fire. I've heard reports that anywhere from one to 40 people died in it and that the owner committed suicide afterward. I'm calling that BS. I suppose it's possible that there was one fatality, and the owner may have killed himself for a number of reasons, but if 40 people were burned alive here, I am positive there would be a historic marker. On top of that, the building was erected in 1918 and the mass-cremation apparently happened in the 1920s. Considering the burnt wood is still holding the roof up on part of the 4th floor, I'm sure it hasn't been like that for 100 years. There are a ton of much newer car filters strewn around the ground floor, which is what gives the impression that it was a garage most recently, and I'm no expert but I don't think it's a good idea to use heavy machinery in a building that was burnt to a crisp and left that way for decades. I'm sure the fire happened while it was functioning as a garage. So... yeah.

The clothing factory was super dark and I kind of just guessed with the pictures, so they're not of anything in particular. Everything is exactly as it would have been aside from the inch of brown water covering the entire floor. The place even still has power; I noticed a phone blinking on a desk, and upon picking it up it still connects and can presumably make and receive calls. The building is in no way safe enough to be used properly anymore, so this is baffling to me. The second time I came, someone had locked the door again and my friends were too scared to climb through a window (like I had already done) so I didn't get a chance to take better pictures and/or find out why the hell it still has power.

I remember you. I thought you were a girl. I was wrong. Judging by your avatar, you're a brony.

Regardless, the clothing factory is a cool find. I would definitely go back with a tripod if I were you.

Nice Find!

Like the last poser said.. a tripod would help.. But I want to explain WHY it would help...

See.. the flash on your camera is pretty good at lighting up objects 10-15 feet away.. But the room you were dealing with in #1,2 & 3 are bigger than that..

Plus, there is this thing called falloff.. What is means is.. With a flash. every time you double the distance a flash has to travel.. the amount of light is reduced by 3/4.

So.. If you have machines ( like in # 2 ) that you are shooting 10 feet out.. The wall behind them ( say at 20 feet ) will only get 1/4 of the flash power.. That's why it turns out dark..

In these kinds of situations it might be better not to use a flash at all.. I'm sure there wasn't much light in that building.. But.. if you let the camera try to gather the light on its own.. it might be enough...

What I mean is. putting the camera on a tripod ( even a little table top one ) or just on a window sill or a machine.. Turn the flash off.. Turn on the self timer.. ( this gives a little time before pushing the button ( and inducing vibration ) and when the shutter opens giving you a sharper picture. This will let the camera judge the exposure and keep the shutter open for as long as necessary ( usually up to 30 seconds ).

Practice it .. in the evening in your own home.. Experiment with the settings. Even a basic point & shoot can make some pretty cool pics if you take advantage of the tools that are there.

Once you get this technique down... It opens the door to light painting.. Either with flashlights.. or a handheld strobe. But.. get this nailed down 1st..

If you or anyone reading has questions on the subject don't hesitate to contact..

Good shooting!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

I was, but not anymore. I tried to change my avatar but for some reason it doesn't want to work.

But yeah, I'll definitely be going back soon and bringing my better camera. There is so much in there I wasn't able to capture with my phone, and I am just itching to share it. It honestly reminds me of Pripyat or something in the sense that at one moment, everyone left and took nothing with them. At least one sewing machine even has unfinished fabric stuck in it.

Well, I went back yesterday only to find a police officer waiting in his car right by the entrance, so unfortunately I won't be getting any better pictures... If anyone in the general vicinity of Statesboro, GA would like to risk it, though, shoot me a PM for the exact location and a few tips about the place.
