New here. I wanted to go to No Exit yesterday, but I didn't want to show up out of no where without introducing myself here. I have always felt the call of dark and forbidden hallways, and I'm glad to find a forum of empathetic voices.

I promise I'm not some super gothy chick who only takes pictures of child graves, but here you go…

These pictures aren't true urbex (in that the location is available to the public), but I enjoy some of the similar themes of nature taking over order. I took them yesterday at an East Atlanta cemetery that was abandoned in the 1970s. The cemetery was the final resting place for many of the poorer residents of East Atlanta, and sometimes a 5 inch headstone or even a small rock were used as grave markers. Trees have grown out of graves, mud and dirt covers headstones (some broken).

I am looking to visit another nearby location that is rife with no trespassing signs, but I have heard recently that it has upped it's security personnel. I would love to privately talk with someone about a little advice as far as that goes.

1. And the green grass grows all around

2. MUD

3. Tall Tower Tiny Graves

4. Fake Flowers

5. A Plaque

6. Four Tots

7. Graves by Gardenridge

8. Headless Lambs

9. Ethiopian Cross

10. A Head Stone

11. Buried Harold

12. Height Difference

13. Dandelion Grave

Hope I'm not crashing the party! Feel free to critique. I'm sure there's some sort of hazing process to look forward to.

I am very new to photography, so be nice (or don't, it's fine). I am using a Canon Rebel T3i. Full deets are on flickr, or I can post them if you're actually interested.

If you guys are graveyard freaks, west view cemetery is hidden treasure. It has an old gothic looking castle built in the 1800s that is actually a mausoleum. If you look like you're mourning or you're supposed to be there, you can usually just walk in and walk around. It's a labyrinthian space and very understaffed. Great to explore.

Welcome jubilant tornado! That's one hell of a screen name, and a lovely, old neglected cemetery as well! Great stuff! You have some nice shots, good depth of field, interesting old stones, beautiful location! I like 3, 6, 12 and 13!

I've been working all winter long on my own cemetery project, so I appreciate a good find like this!

Some UE snobs dismiss cemeteries as non-UE subject matter, but the way I look at it, the theme of UE is incomplete without them. You can't ponder the vacant factories, asylums, hospitals, homes etc. without wondering where all the people went. And, to a large extent, many of them can be found in places like this. Some may argue that strolling cemeteries doesn't involved the thrill of trespass which is integral to the UE experience, but in my own travels I have been thrown out of one cemetery for trespassing, and have also hopped some fences to gain 'illegal' access at night. So I do appreciate the boneyard and its fit in the UE world.

Anyway, good stuff. And here's a shot from one I visited up my way last weekend:
