1.

These homes are near or on Lake Michigan! Are there really lakefront houses that are completely abandoned? There are dozens and dozens of them. These are just a few of them. 1.

DAYUM!

haha, #2 is such a sad looking ceiling fan. Also #28 is ridiculous. Some very nice homes here though. I saw someone else post a set on flickr a long time ago of houses that were left before the shoreline was rising and the water was getting too close to the houses. Doesn't appear that way in your photos, but I'm wondering if these are some of the same houses? Some very beautiful homes there, it's a shame they're in that kind of condition.

Third on what the hell happened out there? Some of those places were so cute!!

Depressed-as-shit ceiling fans make me snicker almost as much as abandoned pianos make me want to cry. That black upright is a beauty, makes me wonder if she could be saved.

Maybe it was that bathtub mural. The neighbors caught wind of that piece of work and just... bailed.

People were forced to leave their homes, and not because of the weather or anything...not for any of these homes, anyways. Pic 20 should give a clue. Message me for me more details.

The National Park Service has pulled this same stunt in 2 other places on Lake Michigan as well as all over the country.

It will be interesting to see if they do anything more than just demolish the houses. In NJ, they went around buying up hundreds of homes for bargain basement prices along the Delaware to build a dam that never got built.
