Rest home in MI

So, we spent xmas in Detroit (because... the most seasonal cheer??) where my partner has loads of family and an uncle involved with several of the urban farms and other fun stuff (we had a super good time, actually, which is saying something for any occasion where you pack that much of anyone's family into the same house). We were only there for about 24 hours, else I would have done more research and maybe looked up some of you fine folks to meet up with, but on the way back we did make time to stop at this place.

It is, to date, the largest thing we've had the opportunity to explore. Given that it's broadly visible from the interstate in both directions and has been in limbo for years, it's in bad shape, gutted and vandalized through and through, but it was still a very interesting tour. It used to be a rest home, but closed in 2006. The central of three buildings burned to the ground in 2011 I believe, and while I could find lots of news articles about the fire and the county's annoyance that the owners aren't taking responsibility for paying the back taxes and demolishing the thing, I couldn't find hardly any information about the facility when it was still extant. If anyone knows more about this place's living days, or if anyone else has been out to it and posted their photos anywhere, I'd love to know. Meanwhile, enjoy what we got!

Interesting patterns in the smoke damage inside the first building we went into.

All that's left of the central building; I didn't get a particularly good shot of it but there's a long trough of burned rubble extending out from this thing away from the road.

What you can't see is the collage of home shot and printed pornography on the wall directly in front of this chair. We found three such set-ups in different areas, complete with a roll of paper towels sitting close at hand because... cleanliness is godliness?

10
This is in another room. On the floor is a different collection of what looks like family pictures on a large sheet of poster paper? Don't want to imagine it's related cause that makes it even sketchier.

Panorama of the site from the vantage of the second building.

A considerably less effective panorama of the second building.

Some wire cutters with a cameo appearance by my toes.

I took the liberty of blurring out the porn in this one but it's over there yonder taped to the window. Good... er, view?

Thank you much for not posting photos of the porn!! CDevon sure didn't blur out those pictures enough in his set. That's for sure.

Did you try out the fap chair? You know, just for research.

good set Crows, last time I checked google street view from the interstate, it showed a great view of the building that burned.

27 is cool. A starburst-shaped building is unique but probably not very space efficient.
