Looked like a great fun big place to explore.

Welcome to UER and congrats on your epic explore of the Armour location. That was one of my first major locations and now I want to go back. You even managed to document stuff I must have missed.

Thanks a lot. I'm excited to find a community of people interested in this sort of stuff. I'd love to meet up with some other explorers in STL. We have so many places to see, but it's safer and more fun with fellow explorers.

there are a few of us around...

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

Like cdevon said.

Also, I just went here on Tuesday morning. We were promptly chased out by the guy in question. This was my first encounter with him since like 2008. He drives a white truck with a blue tailgate. Also, there was someone in the truck with him.

I'm not trying to argue with your take on him, I merely wish to share my opinion of this guy. There's no way he just happened to be hanging out in back of the place or just happened to be there while we were there. He had to have been tipped off or something. He came in yelling at us to get out, making all kinds of noise. Why would a criminal be so concerned with keeping trespassers out? If he was a scrapper, then surely stuff would be getting scrapped out of there more so than it has been.

I know your source and although he's familiar with saint louis, I'm not convinced he's an expert on the area any more than others are, including myself. I've spoken with him via email on numerous occasions. He's a good guy, but I don't think he's uniquely qualified in this regard.

Furthermore, while Armour shut down in 1959, the stockyards were operating out of this location as late as 1972. Perhaps he is affiliated with them. At any rate, he definitely has help keeping an eye on the place. And under his watch, Armour has been spared compared to other places which have been fucked up here in STL lately. So I wouldn't be too quick to label him a criminal or deal with him through bear mace.

That's a good point, I never thought about the stockyards being open later. Either way, you make a good point about his value in protecting Armour, even if he is unreasonable and confrontational. To adapt the words of Commissioner Gordon, "...he's the hero Gotham [Armour] deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt [evade] him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight." I've seen that movie way too many times. And I was just kidding about the bear mace. That should be reserved for more dire circumstances.

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
This place is about 15 minutes from where I live (Belleville, IL).
Be interested to find other explorers in the area.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the photos. I'm a very amateur photographer, but sometimes the place is photogenic enough that the pictures turn out pretty decent. That's cool living so close to Armour, there are a lot of cool places across the river. Yeah, a meet-up of UE folks in STL would be really interesting simply because of the huge number of potential places to explore in and around the city.
