| | NC Tobacco Building < on 1/14/2014 9:22 AM >
| | | Ended up predawning this building yesterday morning with a few friends and the estimable punchy. Ended up not having a tripod and having my batter run down really quickly so I only snapped a few pictures. 1.

| | | Here's a few from me. It wasn't exactly the greatest day for photography, was it? Between you having a borrowed camera without a tripod and me using a point-and-shoot that I'd barely touched in over a year, we weren't quite fully equipped to take advantage of a place like this. Still, this was a VERY cool explore: six floors of wide open spaces with a fair amount of remaining equipment, plus a basement full of giant machinery. And we we got to start out the day with sunrise on the roof. 1.

| | | I love these. I've always wanted to do a photoshoot on that rooftop, but I've never had the stones to look for a PoE. (I actually was shooting in an abandoned industrial space not far from there, last night.)

| | | I like that building. Does it still have that sweet-old-tobacco smell? Most delicious-smelling industrial abandonment outside a twinkie factory.

|
No, unfortunately, mostly it smells like wet wood. See the buckled wooden floors in 8? That's what most of the place is like: warped and broken floors from water damage. I'm surprised none of us tripped and landed on our asses (and I came close a couple of times).

Punchy is right about the smell, but I did notice a few hints of it floating around the cooker room still.

| | | Good times! Glad to see it's still in relatively good shape! It was sealed up pretty tight for a while; that's probably part of why it hasn't been completely trashed!

| | | Well, hell, that didn't take long... The POE we used is sealed up, as in cinderblocks and mortar sealed up. This place sold recently (like about a month ago) and it looks like re-development has already started.
