Wood-Ferrell Heritage House, Stoney Creek

I found this house by accident while looking for another location.

It is an Ontario Heritage house located in Stoney Creek on Seventh Rd., called the Wood-Ferrell House. It dates back to c. 1854.

The property is immense and the house is larger than it looks. Signs of renos are visible but for the most part, the house is unkept. There was a POE but I didn't bother because my car was parked almost on the road and sticking out like a sore thumb.

These photos are from April 9, 2013. A re-visit is planned.

Interiors will be wicked once I do the re-visit. A farmer who lives nearby beside another location is willing to drive me there and then pick me up. If I didn't have to park almost right on the shoulder of the road I would have been in.

There's very little traffic but when I left from this visit and swung around to drive down another side road there was a black and white sitting right at the stop sign. I thought for sure that he was there waiting for me but I carried on with no flashing lights in the rear-view mirror.

You should probably stop including exact location data in your posts.

I'd make this private... Or remove all the key info for finding it (Map photo, things with names, etc..)

I can't make my posts Private and I can't modify this post. The house is well known and not a needle in a haystack to find. As I mentioned in my OP there is no where to park and any car parked there (on the barely 5 feet of driveway) is a huge target for the police.

If my posts have too much info in regards to location/s then I'm sure that the Forum mods would move or edit as needed.

Cheers.

What a remarkably beautiful and intriguing home. It's clear that the builders of the original homestead had a lot resources to invest in construction, but 2+ additions seemed to be added later. That's where the hyphenated name comes from, maybe?

Anyway, nice work arranging the ride. Looking forward to seeing more. Happy exploring.

I'm not sure why I would want, or need, to do that. My locations are no deeply guarded hidden secret.

If you are suggesting that there are some 'bad' people on this forum then whipteedoo, they are going to find these places whether I post a Google map or not. Afterall, how do you think I found many of these places?

"Exact location data" would involve street, street #, precise directions and GSP co-ords.

If you don't like the photos, or just pulling rank, it'd be better if you would PM replies like this to me. I'm not as newb as you seem to take me to be.

Cheers

Well the map view would allow Acadian to find the place again rather than him telling us he doesn't remember where it is, and then people find out the pics were really taken from a location in Sweden or something.

Props on the passive aggressive condescending message towards an explorer who has done nothing to you nor had any problem / contact with you in months. Shows a lot of your character.

*I'd have sent this to you in a personal message where it belongs - and not in somebodies thread because it's totally unrelated but you've blocked me from messaging you which is funny because you seem to love sending me inbox messages.

It's all good - I don't want to see any unnecessary disagreements

But it does show how members can view/interpret the disclosure of certain details about the 'exact' location of a property very differently.

We all just explore these places and share them with fellow UER members.

Cheers and the beer's on me
