On Wednesday, I had the chance to scope out some of the little mountain towns I'm surrounded by. I didn't have high hopes, but I ended up coming across an old motel and a church in the woods.

I still can't believe I came across the church in the woods. I actually stopped because I saw this dilapidated little farm house.

I looked to my right and saw what looked like a large barn through the trees next to me. When I stepped inside, I saw the pews all lined up and the piano at the back next to a podium.

Also, platform sneakers saved my sole (from a rusty nail). My new favorite exploring shoes.

Neat explore, Casinine. I like the chairs in #3 and the piano. #4 is a shot for @benched_it lol. I'm glad you avoided the rusty nail! I had a close call recently myself.

Your thread reminds me of a few reasons why I love living in rural VA.
#'s 8, 10 and 11 are my favorites.

Nice job stumbling upon the church. I never would have guessed that was a church going off of the exterior shots.

I adore the church you found. It reminds me of an old church in Atlanta that I found. Mine was located in a bit more urban environment, but the design and the feeling I got from your pictures just brought it straight back to memory. There is something about churches that just lends itself to pictures.
