The National is running a story where the reporter goes to Kitsault, BC and basically explores the place.
Someone remember to post the link once it's up.

The sign said "Anybody caught trespassin will be shot on sight"
So I jumped on the fence and I yelled at the house,
"Hey! What gives you the right?" http://www.flickr.com/photos/evman/

Oh? This is interesting. I tried to explore that place but there was a lot of people buzzing around in that town. I didn't risk getting caught because its quite far from any normal civilization.

Some peeps here did an expedition a year or two ago as well, IIRC. Wonder if anything is actually happening yet in terms of redevelopment.

Apparently the guy who now owns Kitsault and wanted to transform it into some sort of hippie health resort now wants to use it as housing to attract natural gas export infrastructure that the Premier keeps running her mouth about:

Reviving a bit of an old thread her, but just in the last while Avanti Mining Corp has been working really hard to have approval to re-open the molybdenum mine at Kitsault, BC, and based on some news released a week ago they are hoping to be fully approved before the end of this year. At this point their working to get a $40 million dollar loan to be able to open up the mine again. You can see their website here with their plans for the molybdenum mine: http://www.avantimining.com/s/Home.asp

Kitsault development update: Town will remain abandoned until at least 2018. They've been applying for permits to export liquid natural gas, but that permit would not be set to begin until at least 2018. Their plan is to build in Kitsault a floating LNG plant....which will be interesting as floating LNG plants have only ever been a concept, with none actually existing anywhere yet. We'll see how that plan goes for them though...

Sounds like time for a round 2 to Kitsault. I only got to see the outlying buildings of the place due to heavy caretaker traffic.
