New to Halifax

Hey everyone,
I just moved to Halifax from Ontario so I'm used to factories and farmhouses. From what I've seen here there are a lot of military ruins, the tunnels, Morris House an abandoned school, and lot's of empty businesses.
I was wondering if there is a UE community here in Halifax and if so what kinds of places do you explore and do you guys ever meet up?

Welcome!

Seems quiet around here these days. There's a scheduled meet every month (click the "events" button) but I have no clue how active it is. I live in Asia now and haven't been home for over a year...

Most of the best UE places seem to be a ways outside the city and require a car to access...the radar is a classic I guess. Not many abandoned buildings in Halifax itself. The school board recently declared St. Pat's a surplus property so we might keep an eye on that.

Morris House was near the corner of Hollis and Morris, when they tore down Morris/Hollis to build a new building a bunch of people lobbied to save Morris House as it's one of the oldest buildings in Halifax. It was moved down the street across from the Trident for a couple years, then it was moved to the corner of Creighton and Charles, it's going to used for shelter for youths. It's boarded up and I wouldn't mess with it as it's going to be used for something important and people worked hard to save it.

Here's an article about the move and the building's history.

Also, welcome to Halifax. I haven't been too active lately, due to work and winter coldness. There isn't a lot within Halifax, but if you have a car and get outside the city there's lots of houses and other stuff around the province. It takes a lot of work, research and driving around to find though.

Cape Breton honestly seems like a goldmine, but I haven't been able to get up that way.

Oh wait, stupid me. I remember that now x3 Yeah, the move etc. I've seen it a few times, in fact, a friend I know lived in it for a period of time.

Thanks guys! Good to hear there's a community out here. Yeah I've been just sort of going around Halifax looking for stuff to explore. I'm excited to see things that are different from the Ontario scene.

Welcome to Halifax!

The meetings are pretty empty from what I remember (I haven't gone in quite awhile, so don't hold me to that..)

A few of us go out exploring from time to time though. Radar's pretty good, and there's some abandoned houses and other neat finds outside the city.

Send me a shout if you'd like, I may have some time on the weekend

To answer it with a question: Where have you already been?
