Planning a short roadtrip any recommendations?

Greetings all. Longtime urban explorer here. So I joined this site years ago, but haven't really done anything with it. However, I would like to make an effort at being more connected to the UE community in the Northwest, so I'll try to be on here more often.

So a couple friends and I are planning a short weekend trip in a couple of weeks. We plan to head south toward Portland, then turn east and go along the Columbia river then eventually go north and west back toward Seattle through central Washington.

Finding abandoned buildings isn't our primary goal (we're mostly just out for a random adventure and to take pictures along the way) but we definitely wouldn't mind knowing what's worth checking out in this area. Personally I'm all about exploring these sorts of places.

I know for sure the one place I want to go is the Satsop Nuclear plant. I spoke to someone last year who said she'd been there and she gave me a contact number for the fellow who gives tours. I tried calling and he didn't return my call. I will probably try again soon. Anyway, I'd also like to know if there's anything else worth checking out.

Thank you!

Thanks you have some nice photos there. Unfortunately a lot of those places are in the far north or east of Washington. I'll be in in south and central. I did notice that the Mabton High school is right along our roughly charted path so maybe we'll check that out!

If you go through Yakima, find the route that goes through the Yakima Canyon- beautiful trip and some nice abandonments at the end of the canyon before you hit Ellensburg

Try again, and make sure you are going to be there on a Saturday. That's the only day he has free to make it out there.

Ping me when you're in Portland; I'll make some time to show you some stuff.

Fuck. We are hitting the road Friday morning. We thought we'd try to detour to Satsop early on before making our way to Portland. I guess that'll be out of the question. Meh, I'll still call anyway and see if he'll make an exception.

I was just in that area last week! Unfortunately, I was working, but this was my exact thought

Nice set! Looks like you had one hell of a roadtrip!

Thanks. We definitely had fun on this trip. It was perfect summer weather and we even got to take a dip in the river near the damn. My only disappointment was that it was too short... and the times when the film snapped off the spool inside the camera. Had to lock myself into the high school's boiler room with a blanket over my head to reattach it without any light leaking! I'll try to post the film photos soon... gotta get more paper and some print developer first.
