| | Aww man, who would ever car-jack your f'ing K-car?!! < on 10/11/2012 4:20 AM >
| | | So I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and I go back for visits pretty regularly. 2 years ago, I was driving past a row of abandoned car dealerships near my old High School, and I couldn't help but notice a car sitting in one of the showrooms. I thought it was kind of strange, but no big deal. FFWD 2 years later, I'm back in town visiting again, and I drive past the same row of dealerships (which are still abandoned), and I see that car still sitting in the showroom! I decide I have to get a closer look, so I do. Here's what it was.
Looks like a mid-80's Chrysler LeBaron (aka K-car). Totally mint condition (minus flat tires). Just sitting there. This was a former Chrysler dealership, so it would sort of make sense. Apparently the owner of these dealerships liked to have classic cars in his showrooms, and this one just sort of got left behind. I thought it was interesting enough to share.

| | | Awesome find. That's an 83-85 LeBaron. The ones with the wood sides are extremely collectible because they're the last car built with actual wooden sides instead of wood-look vinyl stickers. That thing is probably worth big bucks, shame they're letting it sit there waiting to be vandalized. Also:

| | | Awe man, what I wouldn't give to find an abandoned Chrysler dealership!! The K-car was just a clever deterrent for the Superbird and Hemi Cuda tucked away in the back

| | | How does it make some sense for it to just be hanging around in there? Cool, nontheless...seem alarmed? I'd imagine it would be.

It makes sense because it's a former Chrysler dealer, and the owner of the dealership(s) liked to keep classic cars in his showroom amongst the new cars. I have no idea why it got left there though.

You were inside AND had the key AND the battery still had a charge? Weak that you didn't steal it and go for a joyride.

I was quoting from the movie from which this animated .gif came from...
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. One of these types of cars is featured in the movie. You should watch it, it's awesome.

That's $5,000 more than any other 1983 Chrysler, heh.
