New to the Seattle area

I'm not new to urban exploration, but I'm new to UER.ca. I joined because I've just moved from Indiana to the Seattle area and I want to meet some like-minded people, make friends, and see some of the local sites.

My wife and I now live in South Everett (north of Seattle). When I was in Indiana, my main "specialty" was caves, storm drains, and other tunnels, though I did enjoy a few abandoned industrial structures when I felt safe doing so. I think the local geology here is not ideal for caves, but I imagine there could be some pretty great storm drains or other tunnels in downtown Seattle. I've been biking around trying to scope some things out, but in my area it seems like most of the streams are above-ground and not buried as storm drains. However, I know it's just a matter of time before I start stumbling upon some fun structures.

Still, if anyone in the area wants to meet up and bring me along on a guided foray, I'd be grateful for the guiding and for the company. We haven't really met anyone here yet. Tunnels are my favorite, but I'd be up for anything that's not too "dangerous" (I'm still a bit squeamish about treks that might bring unwanted attention from law enforcement).

Welcome to the area... you are near me. There's not a ton in this area, mostly residential, but there's a couple of old auto shops not too far. PM me if you want more info. Maybe we could arrange an explore.

Welcome to the area! Yeah, around here it's largely residential stuff, but it's still better then not exploring at all.

Welcome but I am new to this group too.

FYI, at the pass on I-90 is two attractions that might be of interest. Cave Ridge has WA's third largest granite cave and a 2.1 mile long train tunnel that is open to the public.

Two very different sets of caves.

Just found out about some abandoned boats in the near area, and I'm going to go check them out perhaps tomorrow. If anyone wants to meet up and come along, pm me.

Welcome, I'm fairly new here as well. If your looking for drains theirs 2 ive pinpointed, but have not explored near south lake union. One is probably 40 in wide while the other is listed as being 72.

Ha. I'm not too excited about a 40" drain. I've done drains that are that small and smaller, but if it's that diameter at its largest, it doesn't tend to be very enjoyable. However, I'd be more than happy to come check out the larger one. PM me if you want to meet up and check it out together.

Just curious, have you been using this tool to search? It's neat that you can theoretically access the entire network of drains, but it's somewhat (intentionally) cumbersome to navigate between pages. It's meant to make it easy to see pipes in the immediate area around an address, but not let somebody see the whole network in a single view.

Yeah, the 40" is also quite small in area compared to the 72". The 72" stretches about 15-20 blocks away from lake union and up to capital hill. And about the sewer side card, I have used it before but found it to cumbersome to be of any use.
