Microsoft bought the old Group Health Hospital in Overlake part of Redmond, WA. It has sat for well over a decade but is likely coming down soon. Not recommending anyone try and enter it. It is still patrolled, monitored and the like. Some lights were still on. Windows broken get covered quickly.

The grounds are awesome. It was a hospital in nature with parking and roads going around trees. Now it is just over grown and neglected.

The trees have all been tagged, see the image of two trees tagged and numbered.

It is likely that someone could try and arrange access for a tour.

Enjoy.

I believe my friend was arrested here. They have electronic security of some sort, so watch out!

I am pretty sure as well. I made sure I was clearly photographing the place. Every window was secured after being broken. There is still power on. The roads have been mostly blocks, newly added, more private property signs.

If I remember right, MS bought this building while working out a deal with one their employee HMOs which I think it was Kaiser Permanente or Providence to run a clinic with common services for employees so they could technically not go off campus for doctors appointments while on the clock, but that backfired as part of the deal was whatever HMO would actually pay rent to MS and that was not going to fly.

Though I also hear MS has the option of requesting air rights over SR-520 so it makes me wonder.

Well, one of the MS guys I know said there was talk about building their own overpass between the two campuses so they can run their own shuttle bus quicker between the two sides.

Redmond and Bellevue have a huge issue with traffic in Overlake. Many plans have been floated and MS has worked against many of them.

One was to make interchange at 130th and SR 520. MS did not like the idea that this would lead cars straight off the freeway and into there compound. Even though the roads in MS are all city streets and paid for by us. I have been asked to leave by MS Security just walking down the side walk.

Strange how "No and please do call the cop." can end that bluff.

They did add an overpass to connect one side to the other but Redmond would not allow them to make it private and it is also a public road. Used quite a lot but MS connect vehicles. Strangely, this connects to 130th at a round about. Does little to help the Overlake traffic problem but MS did get an overpass.

Looks cool. I'd love to get some pics of it.

I'd like it if you posted more pics of abandoned places of the Eastside.

Sorry for the delay, but I got more information finally.

The building is alarmed; its got glass break alarms plus the usual motion detectors and what not. Its got power because MS is right now using it for storage of some sort since the plans I mentioned were put on hold.

It also has a security guard roaming around in their security car every so often. Highly UN-recommend this place. I hear the 'pay-off' isn't even worth the risk. Nothing is left inside but the walls, and the floors... and the ceilings.

Sounds like the campus is the best part. It is very cool to see a hospital covered rhododendrons and evergreens. Slowly, nature is taking it all back.

space, more than 1,400 residential units and nearly 300 hotel rooms.
Hubbard said work will start in the next several weeks on demolition of a vacant hospital and medical office building as well as construction of roads and utilities.

others have said, but -- yes, there's no point in doing this site. there is no reward versus an unreasonably high risk.

Sorry to nitpick, but the place has not sat for "well over a decade." Try about five years. I used to go there, and I work across the street. I often shortcut through there when walking to lunch, and the thought of taking a peak inside has certainly crossed my mind many times. That said, as others have pointed out, the place is well-secured -- not worth the risk, IMO.

Ha, well the over growth of trees sure helps with the look of decades of neglect. I too used to work across 152nd and I even used to go here for 'treatments'.

It will be sad to see it go. A hospital in the woods.
