The Official Satsop Nuclear Power Plant Thread.

Just thought I'd start this since a lot of people will be posting some amazing photos of this place soon. It would be cool to have them all in one place for convenience in viewing. And really, you can never have too much Satsop.

In a public thread? With the real name of the location?

Seems like you might at least want to edit this to refer to the location as tarantulas. Pretty sure that's the code name.

Maybe I'm off base but this still seems like a location worth protecting.

It's a legal location. We had legitimate access to it so the name shouldn't be an issue.

Like Astro said - it was legal and legit. There was even a tour guide.

Have you ever been here before? I don't know anyone who has tried to access this place illegally, purely because the tour guide (Stan) allows access to the best areas anyway... no sense in disrespecting the location by trying to get in on your own terms when the location attendants ALLOW you to access it fully.

Thanks, I'm glad the dreary day managed to add some interest to the shots.

Flubdernit, just because it was a legal location FOR YOU does not mean that someone with malicious intentions is not going to go there and break/tag stuff.

It's not like the person is going to call up the owners:
"hey guys I heard people can go there and photograph stuff."
"yeah"
"well I am going to go there and smash stuff and paint huge penises on everything, is that cool?"
"yeah, sure"

Protecting the integrity of locations goes beyond just people finding out that someone trespassed there. If people started going here breaking stuff, it might just jeopardize access for people who want to go here just to peacefully enjoy it.

Think before you post.

#3 is my favorite -- awesome perspective. I haven't seen anything like this yet and I've seen quite a few Satsop photos.

Also really like #2 and #6. Nice work

Dude, do you know anything about this place? It's not exactly a secret.

EDIT: number two is amazing. Good work!

There are signs saying NO TRESPASSING all over the place. How can it be legal to access it by yourself? And the big question...HOW DO I CONTACT STAN?

so as you'll see from the slew of pictures that will inevitably follow as people get back to their computers, there isn't a lot you can break on this thing. they tend to make nuclear facilities fairly robust. the door you walk through to enter the thing has a tornado rating. as far as I saw there wasn't a single window in the place and other than the roof the only entrance was the tornado door, something about containing radiation. I can't say I'm overly worried about people trashing the place, it'd take a bit of effort and would be a really good way of finding yourself in prison.

Plus Stan is awesome, he actually specified that we were to take no "Aurelie photos". Which I gathered to mean don't dangle off high places and take pictures of yourselves. All in all Satsop was an awesome explore, I'd highly recommend it.
