| | | An old friend to many of you, I'm sure.
I was trampling through the woods on a hike and unexpectedly came across a fence. The graffiti covered sign lured me in...
I had never been up that part of the area so had no idea what it was. Lets take a closer look!
Initially I thought it was a mill or factory but looked too new.
I didn't know what this place was until I saw this:

| | | Great photos and post. As much as I respect the exceptional work and acquisitions of the TLC, I think they blew it by tearing down the skeleton of this building, rotting as it was. Should have let it go naturally. I believe the architect/developer/visionary was David Yuen. At least his last name was Yuen. He tried for years to make his dream happen. Built right on the edge. Unfortunately he could not get enough financing, and no wealthy corporation or individual chose to team up to share his goal. Imagine exploring a completed and now empty lodge on that site. Thankfully the amazing stonework is saved as you have shown so well. A fireplace large enough to sit in... amazing. Will look for my crummy pic of it with the beams still in place.

| | | Thank you =) When I got home I did some research, like I said I had no idea what it was. Pictures in the db reminded me of a castle. It is too bad they did not let it rot naturally. I suppose he was trying to salvage as much money from the project as possible. Exploring a completed and empty lodge there would be amazing. I can imagine the smell of timber while wandering through rooms, or standing in the expansive lobby. The stonework and architecture of it is beautiful. It is a shame it was never finished. Although, I suppose that would have influenced more development in the area. Sitting on a rock wall looking down on the water was so serene. I wouldn't want that to change.

| | | This place is just amazing and how cool to just stumble upon it unexpectedly. Your pictures definitely draw me in and make me want to explore the site myself. Great stuff.

| | | Pardon the small size and quality. I just did a quick snap of the 4X6 prints. Gives an idea of the design and size though. I think they were taken around 15 years ago.

Holy cow. Those are awesome! I had no idea it was framed to that extent.

| | | So great to see these! I was lucky enough to explore the site long before the fences went up but before I had a camera. The area has changed so much! There used to be all sorts of squatters' cabins and trailers in the vicinity as well. One day when I have time for a life outside of school I'll have to visit again.

| | | TLC hasn't touched this place in years apparently. Hilariously pathetic security measures + not cleaning it + seclusion = this. This goes against everything I normally stand for,* but in this rare exception, I think the graffiti kind of suits the place.
*I could go into a long disclaimer about personal property, historical sites, places of significance, etc, here but too lazy... Most y'all know my stance.
