Oly Peninsula - rural wasteland

I went on a road trip last weekend. Headed out with a UE buddy - final destination the coast (La Push area). I am really a landscape type girl first and foremost, so I was heading out specifically for woods/beach shots. I couldn't find anyone who knew of good spots along my route (Lynnwood to La Push), so we just started driving and hoping to find some good stuff. The problem was that, in this part of the state, it is sometimes really difficult to tell if a place IS abandoned or not....so it was a little sketchy (hence the mostly exterior shots). Hopefully you guys won't mind a non-ue shot or two....?

1.

2. A storage shed on the side of the road...very much in use still

3.

4. Almost got in a wreck over this shot lol...an abandoned wooden ice cream cone..? why..? lol

5.

6. one of my fav shots of the trip

7. way too many of "these guys" roaming around....yeah, Jethrow...you better keep an eye on all these really well-maintained homes around here...

8.

9.

10.

11. The beauty of this forest is the main reason i took this road trip in the first place. If you look closely, you can see my UE dude on the trail in front of me.

I absolutely love that area of the state. The trees are inspiring. The people... well yeah, not so much. Nice folks, though.

Also, gotta love an abandoned wooden ice cream carving. Haha... good find.

Very nice photos! I like how you don't photoshop them to make them look old, I see so much of that and your photos are great as is. What kinda camera you shoot?

Canon Powershots are great cameras. You can get a really great photo from them. I don't think you really need to upgrade, personally.

Thanks. I agree - my Powershot has served me (and continues to serve) well over the past few years....but I am lately feeling its limitations. Plus I have a little money burning a hole in my pocket lol - - and i'd rather spend it on a new camera than some new clothes or bullshit like that.

i haven't been to this site forever, but i'm from shelton and i know a shit load of locations on the Oly Peninsula and i have more to check out later on this summer. i'll be in the Lynnwood area later this spring. PM me and maybe you can give me location in your area in exchange for locations on the olympic Peninsula. in photo #2 you just missed a couple of good ones, stuff is often hidden in thick brush so you have to look closely
