For a few weeks now (and a few explores) I've carried this wee thing.

It's small, runs on 1x AAA, and I like it a lot. It's made from solid copper and works nicely. It starts in a low mode that's good when it's dark, and the high setting is quite bright.

1.5 lumens for 50 hours
18 lumens for 4 hours
80 lumens for 45 minutes

As the battery dies (with NiMH) it drops lower in brightness gradually, giving you a fair bit of warning to change the battery.

4 more photos of mine

I carry it and a spare AAA, and feed it Duracell NiMH. There is a functionally-identical aluminum, steel, and polished steel version from CountyComm, and a suspiciously-similar offering from Batteryjunction and Lighthound called the iTP EOS upgrade.

haha sweet right? buddy of mine tested it out on me one night while i was 30ft away, never volunteering for it again. i'd say it is more painful than a car headlight to look at, and i had huge black spots in my vision for a good half hour

Another Walmart clearance isle shopper?

these are AMAZING for $9.95: stupid bright, very small, 1AA, I forget it's on my pocket until I need it.

http://www.twocool...73454/product/5519

Though I think I lost mine so will have to get another eventually.

This was a $10 4-pack at Big Lots. They all come in the same assorted colors, but I have the pink one in my toolbox in hopes that it won't walk off.

It's a decent light, reaches far enough to be useful. You're looking at about 10-20 lumens, 1xAA, and about as long as one of my fingers. Get 'em!

now when would 4100 lumens and a 5min battery life be useful? http://www.wickedl...e_Torch-74-41.html

If she can take this without it hurting, then damn. The front bezel is milled aluminum so it's sharp, and the whole thing is knurled (When I run my thumbnail along the light it goes ZOOOP!). If that's "For her pleasure" then she may as well use barbed-wire-wrapped rebar.

Or in our case. Blind'n Security. Do 15+minutes damage to their night vision. Does it strobe?

Incandescent won't strobe*. If you want, you can get similar output (and a longer runtime) in a 2D mag lite for about $100. These parts pretty much replace the Mag lite parts, but you have to register on CPF and order them from a guy who buys them in bulk from suppliers and sells them singly. Note: More mag lite (3D, 4D, etc) means you get more voltage, and way more output with different bulbs. And there's more to it but it gets to be an infinite rabbit hole of flashlight nerding. Also people on CPF sell these things complete for cheaper; WickedLasers or whatever kinda stole the idea from the people who made 'em here.

Mag lite
Reflector
Front glass
Battery holder
Bulb
Socket

Have Mag lite 2D
$27 Reflector Cammed bifocal
$3 Front glass Mineral glass
$37 Battery holder 8AA to 2D 9.6v White 8AA to 2D (9.6 volt) $37
$9 Bulb for white 8AA to 2D Bi-pin WA1164
$18 Socket Brass G4 Bi-Pin PR socket

*cheaply. But you can flicker the switch pretty fast. Trouble is, high-voltage bulbs cool down slowly, sometimes taking half a second to dim down.

Just bought this yesterday from a local Sears. With my money the way it is, it's probably going to be my last purchase for the rest of this year...but at 80 lumens and 25 hours on 3AAA's $20? Plus it comes with a holster and two color caps? How could i say no? I needed to upgrade my light anyway.

I took it out behind my house to run some tests. I put it up against other lights I have to compare them. Set my camera for iso 400 and 8 second exposure, then went to work.
Control shot:

3D Maglight (So dim that my camera couldn't focus. Keep in mind these are fresh (Well, never used) Batteries:

1 LED Nichia flashlight (Decent for 1 LED with a lens, plus the batteries last for MONTHS...)

Huskey 3 LED (2 white, 1 red) headlamp:

Dorcy Hawkeye:

Then I took the lights into my basement for another test. I figured that with the wall only 25 feet away instead of 50, I might not need 8 seconds to expose the shots. I did some trial and error and figured out that 2 seconds at iso400 gave the most accurate image of each light.
Maglight (Focused to spot, in order to FOCUS):

Nichia:

Headlamp:

Dorcy:

I don't care. Return it and buy this from Home Depot.

Rayovac thingy

$15, 100 lumen and 80 lumen level, very good at reaching. Feels durable and stuff. Skip lunch and buy it.

I can no longer by things online, and my Home depot doesn't carry those. I know, I checked my Home Depot before riding BACK to Sears. Besides, with the shipping, I'd be spending more than I did on the Hawkeye. I only HAD $22.

I like the looks of this. Just how durable is this thing?

I abuse the hell out of my lights
