AndrewG and I went on another exploration in St. John's, Newfoundland. These pictures are what's left of Grace Hospital. At this time, I can't provide a history of the building. This is the most ghetto and sketchy place that Andrew and I have been in so far. This place had TONS of mold, and was very wet on some floors. When we came back down from the roof, we noticed that the musty smell was masking some kind of alcohol smell. Immediately we thought that there was some drug lab in the building, so we left. I don't recommend going into this place at night. Enjoy!

Nice! I remember the police bringing in dogs to retrieve a homeless guy from a 7th floor drop ceiling in this place...good to see you didn't have the same experience!
Awesome! I'm not living back there anymore but I thought this was all demo'd. Good to hear it's still around. Imported from Newfoundland ----- Canon or Bust

What do you mean by a 7th floor drop ceiling? Are you talking about those two metal doors on the floor of the mechanical penthouse?

So far, there are no signs of impending demolition. This place is really nasty. Many rooms have become pigeon nests. Some of the rooms on the top floor have slippery wet floors with some kind of green slime. [last edit 10/17/2011 4:19 PM by GearheadExplorer85 - edited 1 times] You're not in a brothel lineup. Posted by reduxzero Nice! Reminds me very much of the old Charles Camsell in Edmonton. Any basement tunnels? Weird bathtubs or other leftovers?
Just googled the Charles Camsell. They are very similar buildings.
We never went into the basement. The 6th and 7th floors had some chemistry labs, classrooms with really old desks, and toilets with black mold in them. Many of the rooms were pigeon nests which I did not feel like going into lol [last edit 10/18/2011 3:13 PM by GearheadExplorer85 - edited 1 times] You're not in a brothel lineup. That place is ghetto, haha. But I enjoy going to places like this sometimes. Don't get me wrong I love really nice locations, but it's sometimes fun to just chill out and explore locations like this. Well in my opinion at least! http://www.flickr.com/photos/krissssten/
All things considered, its actually in better shape the some of the places I've seen. The mold isn't surprising considering the boarding on the place. Everything is sweetened by risk. -- Alexander Smith http://www.flickr....hotos/11765127@N08
I'm still around an willing to explore anytime, crockett85 is out in another province with work, I haven't actually explored anything since last year when we went through this building!
I'll have to dig out my photos and make a db entry or two!
Is there anyone else here in the St. John's area that would like to explore before we get too much snow? There are a couple of new buildings going up downtown that are screaming for a look-see.
I recently tried getting into the building, but it seems way more secure now than it was when Crockett85 went. All doors welded shut, and steel plates over every low window. Short of getting a ladder to climb through a third story window, I couldn't find a way in. I'm located in St. John's and new to the forum because I never knew it existed! I'd love to check out some places with anyone around town who'd be interested
