My short list for local places is generally:
flashlight/headlight
camera
tripod (if at night)
jeans/dickies
satchel (Indiana Jones has one)
knife
cell phone

Additional items that I'll bring depending on location
water
meal replacement bar
gloves
multitool
handgun
waterproof boots
zippo
rope
respirator
walkies
small prybar

You bring a handgun?

It's not where it goes, it's where it can lead you to.

Do you bring your own lube?

If you are bringing your toddler along on a UE you need a decent stroller. I prefer the Jeep three wheeler myself. What preference do you have?

I'm sure as long as you don't wear your pants like a hipster, all will be well.

You have a mask made of asbestos?

That's kinda awesome.

Has anyone tried out these gloves?

]Riddell Stealth Tac has a neoprene back and "ArmorTac palm material". They have a rather snug fit and didn't seem to catch on anything when I was testing them out.

Could this be a better option then the rubber palm gloves from Lowe's / Home Depot?

Batting gloves, dirt bike/motocross gloves, and mechanics gloves are all good choices.

The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?

It depends on what you're doing. You should always have closed toed shoes, a flashlight and a camera.

When draining, bring some extra flashlights and gloves for icky-sticky ladders. Climbing sometimes requires rope and a harness if there are no foot/handholds. A p100 respirator is highly recommended when black mold, asbestos, or high levels of dust or other airborne crap is present. Bringing door wedges to abandonments is helpful, however not necessary if there are items to improvise with. A multimeter, screwdriver and bits of wire are useful when security systems are present. Bring a watch, time flies when you're having fun. Tripods or gorillapods are great for low-light shots.
