| | | Some random pics from my most recent trip up to MI's upper peninsula. I apologize that not all of them pertain to urbex but most of them do! Most of these are in the "copper country", in and around Houghton. First, here's an abandoned beach shack on Lake Superior: 1

These pics are of an abandoned Nazi PoW camp outside of Sault St. Marie... it was pretty disappointing honestly and took forever to find. All that was left was this chimney and some foundations: 22

I love that area too.... doesn't it feel like stepping in a time machine? They are like 50 years behind up there at least

She's a pound mutt lol, but I just tell people she's a dingo... she looks just like one. She goes exploring with me on most trips... it's fun but it can be a pain sometimes... like at the bombed out factory I was in the pics above, she was afraid to go up the stairs, carrying a big dog, a backpack, a camera, and a tripod up sketchy stairs with no railings isn't fun

| | | Is # 14 the Shaft house to the Quincy Mine? I lived in Calumet and Houghton for a couple of years and looked at that mine EVERYDAY from my bedroom window. If it's not, it sure looks like it! Great pictures!! I miss the UP.

| | | Very cool pics. I love the UP no matter how "far back" it is. We just did 4 days rough camping up there. We have the last 4 years now. A couple places I got to see this year: The Huron Bay & Iron Range RR rock cut. This pic doesn't do it justice as to how deep this is and how hard it must have been to dig back in the early 1900s. The really odd part is is that the railroad ended up never really running.
The Freda stamping mill part of the Champion Mine. This place could be quite a great place to explore.
The mine ruins by the Gay Beach (not making that one up, the only business in the town is, you guessed it, The Gay Bar) tailings are supposed to be a great explore too. The UP is just so loaded with places to explore I could easily fill a thread with stuff. [last edit 8/30/2011 3:56 AM by Rattler - edited 1 times]
