This location is frequented by Intelligarde security. I had the pleasure of running into them and they were not to freindly even though i was just walking around taking pictures. I got a ticket for treaspassing and was banned from the area for 3 years. Intelligarde the security company takes there coffee breaks at this location sometimes and they have set booby(sp?)traps in the abandoned building to know if people have been there. All the secuurity is for homeless people who have been trying to live inside the silo's and the building.

It's not a trespassing ticket, it's an admission ticket.

Be forewarned... Unwin Avenue is a private road, so Intelligarde have the same authority as the Toronto Police on the road. So if they catch you driving down there or whatever...same thing applies.

Where did they actually catch you...inside the fence, or walking around outside?

Oops

I'm kinda curious, I've never seen a trespass ticket from Intelligarde.. Can you scan it in and put it up? Obviously you can blank out your information, and the ticket number to protect the guilty

What?! I didn't know Unwin was private... Who is it owned by?

I thought those Intelligarde guys were considered to be a joke. I've never actually taken them seriously. Driving around in their foolish looking black and yellow cars, which are usually rusted and falling apart. Fools.

EDIT: About the "ticket"... Is it real, as in endorsed by the government? Do you have to pay a fine? If you don't, its not exactly a ticket...

What... The hell? That can't be... They don't have the authority to give those out! Someone should ask Exkal about this...

If I'm not mistaken a citizens arrest in Canada can also have a resisting arrest charge added to it, so walking away isn't always as risk-free as some make it out to be...

Being a former Intelligarde "officer", I can say with certainty that if you're caught inside a fence that they patrol, you are busted. They WILL and have every right to arrest you. If you try to walk away, it won't go well, and you will likely be charged with resisting arrest - a criminal charge. Remember that if you resist, they can use "as much force as is necessary" to keep you under arrest.

Do yourself a favour, and wait for the cops. You'll get a ticket for your trouble and be on your way. It's simply a fine and does not go on your record.

BTW, the "police horse" you saw was not a police horse at all... It was an Intelligarde horse. They patrol the Unwin Ave area with them.

I-garde certainly has its reputation, but I have to give them kudos for the crappy places they patrol. I was about 4" away from having a .45 slug in my melon working for them one night at Jane/Wilson.

Yup, exactly.

Unwin Avenue is owned by a company called Tesco. There's signs at both ends of Unwin Avenue stating this. Intelligarde patrol this road, as well as the properties on it. As Todd said, if you get busted - don't run. They WILL get you, and your life won't be easy. A resisting arrest charge is criminal, which means you'll get a criminal record, which isn't good for anyone.

Just deal with the 70 bucks.

Same goes with any guard company. They can issue tickets. Securitas, for example, can issue Trespass notices, Parking Tickets, etc... - all that are endorsed by the City of Toronto, which means if you don't pay them, you have the real cops knocking on your door.

It REALLY pisses me off to no end all these people who assume "Guards can't do anything, they can't touch you" - that's just *NOT* the case. The law grants alot of authority to guards. The trick is knowing that authority, and knowing the laws, etc...

And it can make things more difficult for you. Best to stick around, take your ticket and then leave.

What a crock of shit.

Those intelligarde idiots are NOT police officers, no matter what you say. They cant frigging charge you with "resisting arrest". Hell, how the fuck are they supposed to arrest you in the first place? THEY ARE NOT COPS.

Yeah, I'd like to see one of those morons use "as much force as nessecary" to restrain me. Then they'll be the ones getting charged.

I checked out this place this past weekend. When I got back in my car I noticed the guard trotting down the road on her horse. Thankfully, she was far enough away not to notice me popping back over the fence.

I think they only patrol during weekends, or perhaps in the evening. I was there today around 3pm and there wasn't even a single person in the intelligarde office that we could see of, except for one horse by the stable. Although once we were by the really big gap of fencing by the biggest silo we could hear dogs barking from the direction of the intelligarde HQ, do they train their dogs there? Also when we were in the second floor of the building there, we heard a telephone ringing (like a ring you would normally hear from a modern home telephone) from what sounded to be inside or very close to the building, has anyone ever heard this before or know what it is?
