McNeil is showing up in the news again - "The state will close McNeil Island Corrections Center April 1, the third prison to close in a year due to ballooning budget deficits, officials said Friday"
Now they are saying it will close April 1st. It has already been reduced to quarter capacity, and is America's last "Alcatraz" style prison. Im sure we could get permission, is anyone interested in doing a photo tour?

The date is uncertain, but he suggests we will be able to get a tour of some sort... though "Interior opportunities will probably be limited and potentially very disappointing depending upon your expectations."
I will keep the board updated when I can secure a date and time.

During my year and a half of cruising puget sound, I saw tons of cool looking places only accessable by water. A little electric trolling motor on the dink and we could sneak into just about any place silently.
I sold my sailboat 3 years ago but there's a boat auction coming up on the 16th at the everett marina and I plan on buying another one. (I once saw a pimped out 24' san juan sloop go for $400 at auction in everett) I got my eye on a Cal 29. Hopefully I can get it for under a grand. Oh, the places I'd go...

The warden never responded to me... I will have to follow up with him. He told me once it is closed, it will be under control of the Dept of Health and Human Services. (but the seattle p.i. says itll be the feds.)
The pictures look awesome.
