The old CJOH building is empty and will be demolished in the not too distant future. Perimeter fencing has gone up, but people have been up on the roof (graffiti)

Here's a few exteriors taken last week over Xmas holidays...

I saw that last week, didn't realize it was new. Is there actually anything interesting in there? I've worked for the Bear a few times and had to go up to the penthouse to work on the transmitters, but I didn't think there was much to check out in the place...

the history, i heard max keeping really took it hard when the news room burned. These huge studios that the CTV affiliates had have been rendered useless in the last 20 years. This studio had a large studio with an audience area that has been closed for years. Especially since CTV stripped all the affiliates of thier identity. I think CFCF was one of the last to still use its calls on air (oddly enough CFCF was owned by global for a year or so in an odd accident). . CFCF lost its studios in the early 2000's, the historic marconi building at 405 ogilvy in montreal is now municipal offices they now share a bedroom sized studio in an office building here in montreal with RDS and the only show they produce is the news, master control is done from toronto. Even the studio cameras are remote controlled from toronto...

Oh yeah, I was (ironically) doing press coverage at the Media place on York, talking with one of my friends (and accidentally making a lot of noise on air on Majic ;) and CJOH is there to stay. Officially announced in the middle of the election.

Well Nostra, also remember that lots of network affiliates designed many studios in the 40s and 50s with the idea that it should accommodate a full orchestra. I can think of many Canadian and US stations that had that great idea and they ended up downsizing after 10 years.

I have seen security there, don't know if they stay on site though. I imagine a lot of stuff got left behind after the fire.
