| | Tennessee Brewery < on 9/7/2010 4:09 AM >
| | | This was my first real UE experience, and it was, well, today. The husband and I scoped out the site, took a deep breath, and literally jumped right in. The Tennessee Brewery building was built in 1890 and was "one of the largest breweries of the era." It's pretty well documented in the location database, and I was excited to see it in person. The inside is really beautiful, with large windows, towering atriums, wrought iron, etc. The ground floor is very quiet and dark (as all of the entrances are boarded up), and the sounds of doors opening and shutting in the lofts next door are more than a little jarring, to me at least. The higher you go up the surprisingly sturdy staircases, though, the more "homey" the rooms feel - with the exception of a few creepy passages we decided to avoid. We spent about an hour and a half inside, mainly in the southern wing of the building. I would love to go back with a couple more friends to really explore the whole place. I tried not to overload with pictures, so sorry if I did. Also, I'm going to add some to flickr (but I haven't finished yet). Check those out here if you'd like: http://www.flickr....72157624897094824/

| | | This where they filmed the main interior shots for the 1992 movie Trespass. One of my favorite movies yet I have never meet any other explorers that have seen or even heard of the movie.

| | | I have always wanted to see them fashion that structure into a very high end apartment building. Very good photos Ozone. Stained glass, gaslights, the whole bit. Flags, the whole nine yards. That would be something along the order of the Dakota in the Big Apple. It would sit perfectly within the setting of the neighborhood where it sits, in the above configuration. There are several other penthouses of the above description that are located within the TB's vicinity. The building just begs for it and I think would be truly a wondrous, an astonishing work of art and a landmark address to say the very least. The building hasn't been relevant in a good sixty years or so and that would be frigging awesome. Not the astronomical pricing that would have to be in place for such a project to be feasible, no. But it would be good to see the palace(in the strictest sense of the word really) that is the T and B uplifted to its original grandeur and really more so just for the hell of it. And that's my rant. | | | This got my blood pumping. I work as an assistant brewer, this is right up my alley. May have to make a stop coming home from Florida next month.
