So my wife and I are headed to the Charlotte area for thanksgiving with her family. While she and her family are shopping all weekend, I wanna go UEing. So is there anyone that wants to meet up and do some exploring?

Consider the cities nearby Charlotte in South Carolina. I'm in NC but I probably can't make the 3 hour drive to Charlotte.

There's some decent stuff around there. A few city-center type places though, so watch out for the ones with the police station adjoining ;)

I'm about four hours away sadly. Greensboro is an interesting place as well though, for anyone able to make the trip.

Ill be there as long as my schedule doesn't change(I have to be there on the 28th anyway). I dont go to charlotte very often so I dont know what all is in the area as far as exploring goes. Im sure finding some places won't be too hard tho. Ill do some research and talk to some friends from the area and let you know what I can find. Statesville sounds good.

Hm. maybe something around gastonia too? I think gastonia is/was pretty much the industrial city for charlotte.

The one in Statesville is worth it, they tried boarding most of it up, but if you look hard enough you will find an entry point. :o)

Does Charlotte have any cranes up? The one time I've explored there was on Thanksgiving. Security was nowhere to be found and we found our way onto two cranes. It was nice... minus the rain. =)

Not a single crane.

It's rather disheartening.

Theres a couple cranes in Jacksonville. They are rebuilding the old bridge. Its a good drive from Charlotte but it looks promising.

The economy needs to recover so that we can have cranes and construction sites to climb around on again. =(

It is worth mentioning that if you want cranes in NC, Raleigh has five or so, Chapel Hill has two or three, Durham has two, and Greensboro probably still has two.

There is something in Rock Hill.

For the record cranes would probably terrify me. Though I am looking to do stuff I haven't before. Like draining and things like that. I have heard the hospital is interesting and I have been wanting to hit up a hospital as well as a school.

Well, we do have both a hospital and a school, though they are certainly not the greatest. I also know quite a few drains in the charlotte area.
