Any suggestions?

Hello Everyone,

My name is Nathan, I'm an explorer from Texas, been exploring for about 3-4 years now, and I am going to be in Maryland next weekend and was wanting to go explore some places in the area in my free time. Does anyone have any suggestions of some good places to check out or places I shouldn't miss? I'll mainly be in the Damascus area so preferably closest to Damascus as possible but I am willing to drive up to 45 minutes or an hour away.

I've already found one place I'd really like to check out while there, the Forest Haven Asylum even though its a 45 minute drive or so but sounds like it'll be worth it. Preferably no drains though unless they're really epic or something, I've done ALOT of draining so I'm a little burnt out on it right now and also mainly because I'll probably be exploring by myself unless some people from on here want to meet up and go with me as well...I'm not sure what days I'll be free during the week I'm there but I should know by Thursday so PM me if you're interested, I'm always down for meeting up with other explorers. If theres a meetup next weekend within driving distance, let me know, that would be awesome...I haven't been able to get to one in my area yet even because of work so that would be fun.

And to prove I really am an explorer since I'm not a full member yet and only post in the south forums mostly, I have TONS of photos of course and I also do some paintings from my photos as well which you can view some of both my photography and paintings on my DeviantArt here: http://nathanielwilliam.deviantart.com/
And to see the many many photos from my past explorations (mostly all before I started really getting into the photography aspect of it) check out my myspace gallery here: http://viewmorepic...&friendID=28092346 (note: the first 5 albums aren't urbex related, just my artwork, profile photos and ren fair photos but feel free to check those out as well if you'd like)

This is the first time I've had the opportunity to go exploring outside of Texas and I've seen pretty much everything of interest in North Texas already so I'm pretty psyched to get to see some new and different places further from home. Anyway, hope you guys can help me out.

Thanks!
Nathan

PS-If anyone plans on coming through the DFW/North Texas area in the future I'd be more then happy to return the favor when you're in town whether it be meeting up and exploring or just exchanging some good locations

I don't have very many locations in MD but I will be there next week. I'll be heading back to TN on Fri but if you get there before that I might be up for meeting up, and I do have at least one (very well-known) location we could check out near Baltimore.

Youre a week too late. We actually just had a meet up there over Memorial Day. Just research the hospitals in MD. MD has a few abandoned hospitals. Probably like 5 or 6 and with a little research you can find which ones those are.

Forest Haven is a fairly easy place to do. You shouldnt have any problems there. I usually see other people on grounds when im there. From joggers to other explorers or people just walking around. Its a pretty chill place. I think you will enjoy it.

Psshhh, in Pennsylvania we went to the wrong town and stumbled across a hospital. They're not hard to track down up there.

Ah I'll be getting in there late Thursday evening so probably not unfortunately...also not really sure what my schedules like all day Friday yet either, but if you do want to try early Friday or something, I'm down as long as I'm free, just let me know and maybe we could figure something out...if you can't it's cool though, thanks for the offer anyway

Figures, I always miss them lol I guess I need to request off work one day so I can make one of the ones here. And thanks for the tip, thats actually how I found Forest Haven but I haven't had a whole lot of time to do more in depth research or look for any more just yet but I did just do a quick search on youtube and already found a couple other places but not too sure if they're too far out of the way or not. And it does sound like Forest Haven will be pretty fun and definitely glad to hear it's also easy...the pics that I've seen of that place look gorgeous so I'm looking forward to that one at least.

I'll be in Maryland Thursday night and then I'm leaving that following Wednesday night the next week. There are a couple days in there where I won't be free at all though but I'm not sure which days that will be just yet. I know Tuesday is one of them for sure though. But yeah totally just let me know and maybe we can work something out if you're close by.

i've been to forest haven and it was incredible. there was a lot of security there when we went though and because of its close proximity to nsa headquarters, i would be careful. it is a great spot though - definitely worth investigating!

i am also heading to the baltimore-dc area this week and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of places to explore. i have been to rosewood, henryton, ft. howard hospital and forest haven. are there any other places beside these that anyone could recommend? i have heard there is an old tuberculosis hospital in the area but i have also heard it is heavily patrolled.

Yeah I've only been here in Maryland a day now and already found something to explore...a burned down house right down the street from where I'm at:

I see nobody at FH. Its like a free for all basically. Ive been there a few times and never saw anybody else there besides a guy running and other people taking pictures.
