Hey, I'm new to UER.CA and don't know anyone in the local scene. I'll aim to make it to the meetup in a few weeks.

I've had interesting experiences in the UW tunnel system. There's a map floating around but it's shit; I was poking around in UW's online records and found this: http://gir.seattle...x/pixen/egress.png. It's some years out of date -- but tunnels don't change much, do they? I'm working on turning this into a layer for Google Maps or whatever. I like maps.

I don't mind this getting around because the utility tunnels are mostly dead to me. The campus police have been getting on Physical Plant's case about keeping the bushes trimmed, so it's hard to get in without getting spotted. Also they're not so keen on leaving grates unlocked any more. But if you're sneaky you can get in still. I think I've seen just about the whole system.

My favorite bit is the cable trays. They're rather big, and I'm skinny, so I can sometimes get past locked gates by sliding in an empty cable tray. This only works in a few places, but it's pretty hilarious when I can.

I thought they were surprisingly clean for tunnels.

Honestly it turned me off to the. I like a lot of nature in my explorations.

I prefer things to be... Overrun.

That looks like a cool system, lots of loops and such.

It might be worth making your own map to compare. When I was at UAF in Alaska I found that facilities services had actually "lost" several tunnels (they forgot they existed). I got a tour of the steam plant and realized that their "master map" on the wall left out several small/old sections that are on my map.

This bit them in the ass later when the Campus fire department did burn training on an abandoned campus building, and smoke "mysteriously" traveled into every nearby building through the tunnels

Turn off the internet and go play outside.

there is definitely alot more sense in the UW tunnels versus the WSU steam tunnels, they look easier to navigate
