I crawled over and found a tree root to sit on, and while the rest of the crowd socialized I cried like a little girl and took photos of the gathering. Where do you people find all these lonely cahirs. I was so hoping for a lonely recliner. I had never gotten over the feeling we were being watched, and without warning a feral rhinoceros charged out from the jungle and grabbed one of the dwarves in his teeth. He snorted, and challenged us to do anything about it. Seripham, thinking quickly, threw the package of Tim Tams we were saving for PkRearden down the the trail. The Rhino dropped the dwarf and charged after it. We felt it was time to make our way back to the parking lot.

As we crossed the now empty soccer field, a swarm of mosquitos -- each the size of one of those flying toasters from the after dark screen saver -- descended on us and nearly drained us all as we said our goodbyes.

Next month, some place with wheel chair access.

Thanks, I tried to tone it down a bit, so not to scare off potential members. Glad your dwarf friend was ok after the rhino attack. Thank God for the Tim Tams.

Breeding purposes, I would assume.

Hmm... Maybe they can be taken to a taxidermist and sold as tiny flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz.

BTW, it was a pleasure meeting you Robert, and all the DFW folks, we have a great group here in in this area, even if we don't have an abandoned turn of the century insane asylum on eveery corner.

You're supposed to give up something you've been doing too *much* of, you know. For example, the last meetup gave up "having nobody show up at the UE meetup". And *that* was awesome.

So for next month (April 10), any ideas? Park-based exploration seems to be of much win. I know that there are a couple of parks in Dallas with nearby drainage features of interest... like Keller Springs Park in Oak Cliff (Hunky's burgers in Bishop Arts) and Reverchon Park in Uptown/Oak Lawn (more restaurants than you can shake a stick at).

But I'm curious about FW, especially if it's moderately convenient to the train. The Cultural District and Stockyards are a quick bus ride away. The "nearby attractions" at the Stockyards sound like they're less appealing these days. But from a photographic point of view, the Will Rogers Colosseum and complex (in the Cultural District) is pretty awesome. Also, the Botanic Gardens.

Most important, though, is the need to have the meetup at a place with a well-used deep fat fryer. April 10 is the Saturday after Easter. He Is Risen, and He's bringing me an order of chicken strips and fries. Salvation, as it turns out, is pretty close to "salivation".

Ah yes... I think that would be a cool place for a meet up. I love the stockyards.

Stockyards sounds like a winner to me, but someone will have to scout out the territory for the meet 'n eat part. Someplace like Al's is the ideal, I think -- a greasy spoon with enough room that we don't take over the place, and reasonably priced.

There is an off-stockyards mexican place...back in the hood a few blocks. The wait staff doesn't always speak english, but the food is good and reasonable.

another alternative...pete has a line on the guy who owns the old incinerator. we might be able to get keys on that one (it's secured now). In that case, we can meet at buffalo bros on University, then go to the site.

I'll start checking on things

Aw, can we still at least *act* like we don't have permission? Like, find a fence we can crawl through, or something. Be sure to pick a spot with thorns and brambles. Maybe bring some of your pet mosquitoes for "atmosphere".
