UE in the DE no way.

Ok so yeah I have noticed that there is apparently no UE spots in Delaware. Well at least none that i can access without being a full member. So i decided it was time to explore and explore i did. I have found one Active site, and about 10 other sites ranging from semi active to how is that place still standing. all with in ten mins of my house down in Slower Lower county, Sussex for those of you not from Delaware. All in the lovely town of Bridgeville. Home of Apple Scrapple, And for the last few years home of pumpkin chunkin. these are a few of my shots from the active location after the major dump of snow we got..

Cool spot, and nice shots. It's so much more fun to go out and find something yourself than to look it up on the interwebs! This is Urban Exploration, after all, not Urban Self-guided-tours-of-well-known-areas!

It's a major misconception amongst new members (I was certainly guilty of it) that the Database is this super-amazing, all-inclusive list of every great place to explore, ever. Mostly it's full of lame houses and places that have been demolished already. Almost nobody actually posts anything good in it.

So thanks for the post- Keep finding cool stuff and sharing it, and you'll see the full DB soon enough.

Nice find, and Avius is right about the DB, more fun to find them on you own anyway. (though the DB is helpful, at times, when traveling to other regions) Have you checked out the bunkers at Cape Henlopen? Don't know what the status of them is, it's been a looong time.

Dude you are allowed to leave the state of Delaware to explore... You're surrounded by PA, NJ, NY, MD, DC, & VA!! If you need help finding abandonments in these states you need to find a new hobby. No offense

but why would i leave my passing to do something boring? i love doing this stuff i love getting the feel or places. im not asking for a roadmap like i said, though a hint of a location is great, and atm i cant travel to my surrounding states all the time because of employment issues and family issues. and i know this isnt the place to look on a DB and go yah ive been there or that place looks great, I do this because i love it, because its what i want to to, i hold the same thinking with everything, if your cant have fun doing it dont do it, i apply that to work and to photography which soon will be my work.

Move out here. You can't drive 100 meters without finding something abandoned.

Gameslay3r,

Sorry, I wasn't trying to start a bashing session. I can't go driving all over the place most of the time, either. I know how it is. Sometimes us part-timers just can't get a break from the l33t n1nj4s.

Welcome to UER!

There was only one non-public DB location in my city when I got FM status a year ago. I've had a lot of luck finding places by walking RR tracks, flying around in Google Earth, and good old walking around aimlessly downtown and through the woods. I'd imagine you'd have similar luck, even in DE.

I live in Newark and other then sometimes for work, I don't head down that way too much.

There was an abandoned hospital bldg @ stockley center, but I think they tore it down to make a parking lot. There was an old factory in Lewes that had something to do with clams that I used to check out years ago, but I've heard it's been torn down as well, not sure. in Dover there were a few old hotels that were vacant. I believe there is a factory in the area that recently closed as well. Also a really cool old mansion right on the side of rt. 1 in little heaven, just south of dover.

best advice I can give for lower DE is to check out bing.com/maps and see what you can find. Every town has something...

also, if you ever head up to the wilmington area, lemme know.

Id just like to say, im from delaware and over the past year or so, ive pretty much been everywhere there is to go. There is a lot more then you might think even just in new castle county. If you want, I could hook you up with some interesting spots!

Any of you DE folks see a certain automotive plant in a certain college town before they started the demo. Might still be something left.

I was in the parts plant a couple weeks back.. empty and boring.
didn't even try the main plant as trucks were pulling in and out the whole time.

A buddy told me they are tearing down the parts plant right now.
No demo has been done to the plant itself... just lots of on site security and people buzzing about.

i have found some of the best things this way. very good advice.
sometimes, we'll just pick a town we've never been to and drive. there's usually something that sticks out like a sore thumb anywhere you go.

security is on site (or was this time last year)... and the place is pretty small and open so it'd be tough to not be seen.

thanks. what about the bancroft mill in wilmington? it doesnt look like there is much security there but there is always a cop car parked right in front of the open gate. never looks like anyone is in the car though.
